About the home

Watery Fowls is a modern purpose built holiday bungalow that provides comfortable, good value accommodation for the self-catering holiday maker. It is situated at Rosecraddoc, built in the grounds of the old Rosecraddoc Manor. There is a public house that serves the site, but no noisy night clubs, amusement arcades or swimming pools. This is for people and families who are looking for a peaceful holiday in the countryside. The nearby Roscraddoc Woods are great for exploring and private fishing is available at a lake in the grounds. It is however, close enough to major routes, making it easy to visit the fantastic attractions on offer in Cornwall and West Devon, before returning home to 'base' each evening.

Many of our visitors take the opportunity to see some of the many gardens open to the public in Cornwall, including the Eden Project, just 20 miles (32 km) away. Others enjoy the nearby fishing villages and towns on the south coast. Some enjoy a day in Plymouth. There's something for everyone within easy reach.

'Watery Fowls' has three bedrooms, two double and one twin, a spacious lounge, a very well-equipped kitchen/diner, a bathroom with shower and a separate w/c. Immediately next to the bungalow is an allocated space for one car. At the front of the bungalow is a patio with garden furniture, ideal for those ’al-fresco’ meals and drinks.

Entry through the main door brings you into the kitchen/diner area. The kitchen is well -equipped with a wide range of cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery making self-catering easy for you. The large dining table comfortably seats six people.

The comfortable lounge benefits from the 'french windows' and summer visitors will be tempted to open these, allowing access to the patio area, ideal for soaking up the sun and enjoying a relaxing drink, or even a barbecue. The lounge has seating for six people including a leather suite and a rocking chair, a television with 'freeview' box and DVD player.

A small hall, complete with coat hooks, separates the lounge from the bathroom and w/c. The bathroom includes a wash-basin and a bath with an overhead electric shower.

All three bedrooms are accessed from the lounge. One of the double rooms and the twin room have windows overlooking the stream just a few metres away, while the other double is at the side of the bungalow. All three rooms have wardrobes, bedside cupboards and lamps and night storage heaters.

Conditions

We normally let from Saturday to Saturday, although other days, including shorter breaks may be possible out of season. Not available between 7th January and 1st March.
We offer a 10% reduction on bookings of two consecutive weeks or more.
We generally ask for a 30% deposit with balance due 21 days before the start of your holiday. Smaller deposits and staged payments can be arranged however.
Payment by direct transfer via online banking, cheque or credit/debit cards via PayPal are all accepted.

Parents - Please be aware that the property is next to a narrow stream and young children should be supervised accordingly.

The West Country / Cornwall region

Cornwall is the number one holiday destination in England for good reason. There is something for everyone in Cornwall including, spectacular coastline, great beaches, small fishing villages hidden away, rolling countryside, moorland and many places of interest.

Our visitors enjoy a variety of activities according to their age and tastes. Those with young children may enjoy the beaches and the farms, particularly Trethorne Leisure Farm, the Tamar Donkey Sanctuary or perhaps the nearby Monkey Park. Those without children may enjoy some of the many National Trust properties or gardens in the county, or just exploring the varied countryside with walks over the moors or along the rugged coastline.

Those with an interest in history will enjoy a day out in Plymouth or Bodmin or discovering the old tin mines or China Clay works. Some may like to travel on one or two of the local railways, including the Liskeard-Looe branch line or the steam trains from Bodmin or over Dartmoor.

The possibilities seem endless and it's likely that one trip to Cornwall will not be enough!

The Liskeard / St. Cleer area

Liskeard is an old Stannery town in south-east Cornwall. Most of our visitors use the supermarkets in Liskeard, although many prefer the local produce available in the Farm shop at St. Cleer, just a couple of minutes drive from Rosecraddoc.

Looe is the nearest coastal town, famous as a fishing port, supplying some of the best fish to the markets in London and even in Europe. Close to Looe is Polperro, famous for its narrow streets leading down to the coast.

Bodmin Moor provides a playground of a different sort and many of our visitors enjoy a short trip to either Sibleyback or Colliford Lakes. Fishing is available at both.
