Home description
La Cour aux Granges offers the best of both worlds, on the edge of a village with country views yet within easy walk to the village centre, and a very good range of shops. The baker's is open early, and there is also a butcher, mini-market, bar and newsagents, hairdresser's, pharmacy, pizzeria and a gourmet restaurant.
There are two cottages close to each other, with the Maison d'Amis available to rent together with the main house to offer space for large groups or extended families - see details on property 71201.
St Pierre sur Dives with its famous market is just 10 minutes away, and the sandy beaches in the upmarket area of Deauville just 40 minutes drive.
The property has a small lake with ducks and the possibility of fishing. There are bikes in the barn, table tennis, barbecues, and a huge garden with complete privacy. There is a temporary pool in the summer months.

The Normandy / Calvados region
Calvados is a region encompassing Caen to the West, Lisieux to the East, the coast and going inland almost to Livarot. It is famous for its cider and the distilled version - Calvados, as well as for its cheeses. Camembert is here, as well as Livarot, Deauville and Pont l'Eveque, all of which can be tasted after a wonderful meal at the restaurant in the village.
Lisieux / St Julien le Faucon area
Lisieux is the main town in the immediate area, the sous-prefecture of Calvados, where there are large supermarkets on the outskirts, good shopping in the town centre and a market on Saturdays. It is known for St Theresa who was born there, and the Basilica was built in her honour.
St Pierre is a lovely village in the opposite direction to Lisieux, with a wonderful market hall and a market on Mondays, to which people travel far and wide. It is on the way to Falaise (20km) the home town of William the Conqueror, and his castle is still there. This is on the edge of the very scenic area known as Swiss Normandy for its mountains and valleys, and there are places to go canoeing such as Pont d'Ouilly.
North of St Julien and Lisieux are the coastlines of the Pearl Coast and Flower Coast, with lots of beach resorts to visit.

Guestbook for La Cour aux Granges
“We had a brilliant holiday at the house - thanks so much. Everyone loved the house and the surroundings, and all the family were able to do their own thing very happily without disturbing others. It was great.”
”…so convenient to have the village so close - that was a real blessing for the morning croissant run, and for the restaurant which we enjoyed enormously and was a good recommendation.”
"We spent a lot of time in and around the main house - what a beauty! It must be so festive at Christmas with a roaring fire. We made full use of all the games and facilites - loved riding the bikes. We played a lot of pool and table tennis.Too cold for me to swim but husband and son plunged in a couple of times!"
“We saw the turtle on the lake plus several herons, woodpeckers etc.”
“Great house, village, restaurant and wine!”
