The Costa de Lisboa/Lisbon region
Lisbon lies in both the Atlantic and Mediterranean climatic zones, thereby enjoying a pleasantly temperate climate year-round. Its mean annual temperature is 17°C (63°F), with average temperatures in winter of 13°C (55°F) and 27°C (80°F) in summer. Even when summer temperatures reach the mid-30s, the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean insures some cooling breezes.
Lisbon's position on seven low hills beside a river once lured traders and settlers, and it's still a stunning site. Add to that its cultural diversity, laid-back feel and architectural time warp, and you have one of the most enjoyable cities in Europe - and also one of the most economical.
At its heart are wide, tree-lined avenues graced by Art Nouveau buildings, mosaic pavements and street cafes. Seen from the river - one of the city's many great viewpoints - Lisbon is an impressionist picture of low-rise ochre and pastel, punctuated by church towers and domes.
Lisbon is the kind of place where you can sit at street cafes - sampling food or fado - and watch the world go by. But for the eager there are also plenty of cultural activities. In addition to architectural masterpieces at Belém, Lisbon has over 50 museums to visit. Do not miss Queluz's National Palace is the most elegant example of rococo architecture in Portugal, a mini Versailles with feminine charm and formal gardens of whimsical fancy.

Guestbook for Excellent Located New Flat
Dear Gabriela and Miguel
We would like to thank you for the hospitality you showed us during our visit.
'The apartment is very comfortable, well equipped and scrupulously clean. It is in an excellent location for travellers arriving by air. It is close to major transport hubs and there is little reason to hire a car. The food hall, supermarket and cinemas on the ground floor ensure that weary tourists can spend a quiet evening within metres of their front door.
Miguel and Gabriela are perfect hosts who delight in going the extra mile for their guests.
It would be hard to imagine a better place to stay in modern Lisbon.
Richard and Michelle Fleming, Sydney, Australia.'
Dear Gabriela & Miguel,
We would like to thank you for the hospitality you showed us during our stay in Lisbon. It was great to arrive & be greeted by a couple who we're more than happy to spend some time sharing their favourite sights, restaurants & shops in Lisbon with us. A guide book is always helpful, but nobody knows a town quite like a local after all!
The apartment exceeded our expectations. It is modern, impeccably clean, comfortable, and very well located, the underground, train station, bus stop & taxi stand are all just a stones throw away. What's more with public transport being so inexpensive, there's really no need to hire a car or worry about accumulating high transport costs.
On vacating the apartment I really appreciated being asked for feedback. Gabriela & Miguel clearly want to ensure that you have everything you could possibly want to make your stay as pleasant & carefree as possible. The only thing they couldn't change was the unusually wet weather, but we'll be sure to visit Lisbon again in the near future, and this time we'll be hoping for lots more sunshine!!
Many thanks, Emma & Mario
Dear Gabriela,
I would like to say How much my parents and I enjoyed our visit to Lisbon. The city is so beautiful. The accommodation was perfect in location and was so lovely & clean. The apartment facility were the best I have stayed in so far. Overall really enjoyed staying in the apartment. I would recommend this apartment to my friends and family when they come to Lisbon.
Thanks and best wishes for you, Miguel & the baby.
Estimados Gabriela y Miguel:
Everybody knows why people go to Paris, London, Prague or New York. Everyone goes there and finds that La tour Eiffel is high, London is big, Prague is old and New York is high, big, old and modern. I didn't have an answer to the question why I wanted to go to Lisbon. I knew that about 500 years ago it was a half-of-the-world's capital. That about 300 years ago The Earthquake happened. And a few years ago Luis Figo was stoned-faced and broken-hearted when he was helpless to make his team a champion. And yes. Portugal-Russia – 7-1. But these are the facts, not the reasons.
The answer came on the arrival. The sun was shining, the city was smiling to me. It was the first time in my life when there wasn't raining or snowing in the city where I'm going to (and I prefer traveling in winter). I had a trip plan which was meant to help me to see all the tourist's attractions, but luckily, I failed to keep to it. The city had its own plan on me and the curled streets led me to places that surprised me more and more. The smell of grilled fish, the taste of the strongest coffee in the world, the colour of the green wine and the sound of yellow trams. They always fail to explain in the traveler's guides that these things say much more about the city then all those "old castles" an "magnificent monuments".
Actually, I am myself failing to explain why a person must go to Lisbon. It has a complete set of antiquities, historical evidences of many periods starting from the Roman Empire. It has an outstanding modern district built for Expo-98, looking like Steven Spielberg's film decoration. It had Vasco da Gama, Luis Camoes, Luis Figo and a lot more – let the guides tell you competently about it.
I tell you what. Don't stay in Lisbon for too long. You'll be conquered, you'll be sorry that you have a ticket back home, you'll be sorry that you didn't buy a one way ticket. You shouldn't be sorry: you'll come over here again.
And my best regards to Gabriela, who is a kind of person that can be rarely met. She cares about the people she meets, and you are lucky if she meets you. Because if she does, then no doubt you will have a perfect place to stay in Lisbon, a numerous pieces of invaluable advice and careful treatment.
My best wishes Ludmila from Russia
