The Costa de Lisboa/Lisbon region

Lisbon could be described as the new Barcelona, with beautiful beaches a short train journey away in Estoril with its Casino and other sites. Nearby to Estoril is the famous Sintra where the Kings and Queens used to take their summer holidays: well worth visiting.
The city comes alive at night with many bars, restaurants and disco's open until the early hours: it is only a short walk to Barrio Alto and Alfama. Or perhaps you would like to take a river cruise on the Tejo and watch the sunset.
The Lisbon / Central Lisbon area
A short walk down the stairs out the front of the apartment building takes you to the Praça da Figueira where you can sit and have a drink in the square and watch the world go by. This is also where the closest Metro station is situated which gives you access to the entire city and surrounding beach towns. Our website has many more pieces of information about events and the local sights.
The Castelo Sao Jorge is located within 5 minutes walk of the apartment. Sitting on the hill top overlooking the centre of Lisbon it is one of the must see sites of the city. (http://www.castelosaojorge.egeac.pt)
There is an abundance of golf course around the city with such as: Lisbon Sports Club, Golf do Estoril and Qunita de Marina.
Fado is the traditional folk music of Portugal and it is highly recommended to visit one of the local establishments.
Start with the following link to see the sites that are easily within walking distance of the apartment which include: Castelo Sao Jorge, São Cristóvão Church, Santa Justa Elevador and the Carmo Convent Ruins.

Enjoyed our stay in this apartment. We were 'taken for a ride' by taxi driver who charged us E25 from the airport who claimed not be able to find the place. We were wiser on our way back to the airport. Well postioned for getting around without a car and a good 'local' neighbourhood. But there are a good many steps to get up to the street where the apartment is situated. The weather was great at the end of October. My only complaint is that the refund was not returned after a week and after contacting the owner she promised to send me a cheque as she said there was a problem with PayPal. That was six weeks ago and I am still waiting and unable to contact her on the mobile number I had. We are a retired couple and left the apartment clean and tidy with no breakages of damage. I regret having to add a negative note to an otherwise very good holiday |

My husband and I have just returned from a very enjoyable few days in lovely Lisbon.
The apartment is an excellent base to explore the city and all it has to offer. It is very central and we found most places of interest to be within walking distance including the metro which will take you further afield.
The apartment was very clean and comfortable with everything you would need for your stay.
The broadband was a real bonus as it meant we could find out more about the city.
Lisbon is not an expensive city. Transport, meals, etc. were all very reasonable, we found.
On our last day we took the train to Cascais on the coast and spent a wonderful day there.
We found an excellent seafood restaurant for lunch and then just sat soaking up the sun at a beachfront cafe until evening. A real treat at the end of October!

This is a very conveniently located apartment, very close to the city centre but in a quiet location.
The apartment is well provided with everything that we needed to make our stay enjoyable.
The bedroom is quite small but had adequate storage and the bed was very comfortable.
Having the outside space was lovely as it is in an old part of the city where outside space is limited.
When we arrived the apartment was clean and cleaning materials were provided so that we could keep it clean as we stayed for a full week.
There is a restaurant almost next door but we never saw any customers in there so decided to follow the owners recommendations and found them to be excellent.
There was a really good choice of small restaurants in the immediate area so we were spoilt for choice.
There are also several small food stores close by but there is a larger supermarket in the city centre not more than 10 minutes walk away.
There is so much to do and see in Lisbon and we only managed to see a little of what the guide books recommend.
We found that a 24 hour ticked which allowed unlimited travel on the metro and Carris (buses, trams and the funiculars) was great value. The guide books seem to be out of date as far as the metro network is concerned and also we found that some attractions were free that they said had admission fees!
Taking Tram 28 is a guide book must but at the western end of the route at Prazeres is a large cemetery where the great and the good of Lisbon have been buried. A short walk through the gates leads to a different world with well tended family tombs.
Having a coffee and a pastis de nata is also a must. The best we found was in Belem at the Antiga Confeitaria de Belem.
Finally we took a taxi from the airport to the apartment at a cost of €9 (not the €20 easyJet would have us believe).
This is the best way to get to the apartment as there is a long flight of steps from airport bus stop.

"We stayed for 5 days with 3 people in this very nice apartment. Although it was not a huge one, everything we needed was available. We enjoyed very much the patio especially for our breakfast. We also slept very well, the beds were good and the apartment was quiet. To find a restaurant was no problem, in the neighbourhood there were a lot of small good restaurants and not expensive. The owner was very helpfull to answer our questions. "

We have been having a great time in Lisbon and your apartment is certainty in a wonderful spot.
The flat is very clean, nicely decorated and comfortable, which offers all the comfort to enjoy the perfect holiday in Lisbon.
The owners provide a few basics (coffe, tea, sugar.. ) for you so that shopping is not an immediate priority.
If you intend to spend most of the day walking around, that’s the right place.
It is great value for money .We really recommend it
