The Estremadura region
Lisboa offers a wide variety of options to the visitor, including beaches, countryside, mountains and areas of historical interest only a few kilometres away from the city centre.
Lisbon enjoys a Mediterranean climate. Among all the metropolises in Europe, it has the warmest winters, with average temperatures 15 °C (59 °F) during the day and 8 °C (46 °F) at night from December to February. The typical summer season lasts about six months, from May to October, although also in November, March and April temperatures sometimes reach around 20 °C (68.0 °F). Which makes it an incredible destination all year round.
Lisbon has two sites listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site: Belém Tower and Jerónimos Monastery. Furthermore, in 1994, Lisbon was the European Capital of Culture and in 1998 organised an Expo '98 (1998 Lisbon World Exposition).
Surrounding area with many restaurants, pastries, cafes and shops such as a butcher, supermarkets or a bakery where there is fresh bread every morning just around the corner.

"Good location, 10 min. walk to metro, tram #28E right outside."
Fairly roomy apartment, spotlessly clean - nice kitchen with washing machine. Everything worked except the TV remote (no problem for me). Only a bit of uphill walk from metro station (Chiado) and if you zap a transport card you can use the LONG escalators at this metro station to ascend the steeper hill from Baixa instead of footing it. Many shops about the streets, seemed very safe and neighborly with kids and elderly people out and about well into the evening. It seemed to me not too make much of a difference which neighborhood to stay at, Lisbon is very walkable - altho one may want to avoid Alfama if mobility problems. Very noisy with cars honking during some of the time when the tram is running (not at night), funny really!
