Home description
This spacious modern 2 bedroom apartment is situated on the 4th floor (no lift) of a historic Lisbon building in the Baixa area of Lisbon. The apartment is bright and airy, with the main living room having three large double windows leading on to the balcony which runs along the front of the apartment. The total apartment area is 100 sqm. It comprises of a very large living/dining area, one double bedroom with large en suite bathroom, second double bedroom with twin beds, additional bathroom/wc and fully equipped kitchen. The apartment is located in the area rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake and was reborn as a grid of wide commercial streets, each dedicated to a trade. These memory of these districts lives on in the Baixa’s street names. Baixa remains the de facto heart of the city. It hosts many cafés, shops and banks. It is a focal point for urban transport. The views in the neighbourhood are stunning both during the day and at night.

The Costa de Lisboa/Lisbon region
Because of its geographical position between the Mediterranean and Atlantic Lisbon enjoys great weather all year round. The average winter temperatures in winter are 15C and 27°C in summer. The Atlantic Ocean sea breeze ensures that even in the height of summer ensures that you do not get too hot.
Lisbon / Central Lisbon area
Lisbon is an enticing tangle of past and present - funky and old-fashioned, unpretentious and quirky, restored and revitalised, booming with new confidence. Its position on seven hills beside the Rio Tejo (River Tagus) was the main attraction for traders and settlers in centuries past, and it's still a stunning site. Add today's cultureal diversity together with a laid-back ambience and an architectural time-warp, and you have one of Europe's most enjoyable cities. And it's still good value for money.
It's also small and manageable enough to explore on foot, though its muscle-busting hils can defeat the fittest in the heat. Fortunately the hills are tamed by numerous elevadors (funiculars) and traditional trams.
At Lisbon's hear are wide, tree-lined avenues graced by Art Nouveau buildings, mosaic pavement and outdoor cafes. The Alfama district below Castelo Sao Jorge is a warren of narrow streets redolent of the city's Moorish and medieval past. Seen from the river - one of the city's many great viewpoints - Lisbon appears as an impressionist picture with its pastel colours and church towers and domes.
But Lisbon has also undergone massive redevelopment in recent years. Although the Alfama and Chiado districts have seen some sensitive restoration projects. The city has benefited from the investment and exposure of Expo 98 and the 2004 Euro.
The resulting constrasts are arresting. In the shadow of glittering high-rises are the occasional seedy back streets. And despite the frenzied traffic, the city's squares have a caravanserai character, with lingering lottery ticket sellers, shoe-shiners, itinerant hawkers and pavement artists.
You'll also find an abundant history and culture. The highlights are: - Mosteiro dos Jeronimos in Belem - Alfama district/Castelo Sao Jorge - No 28 Tram - Nightlife in Bairro Alto , with its great bars, restaurants and clubs - Riverside restaurants and clubs of Alcantara and Docas - Museu Calouste Gulbenkian, Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga and Museu Nacional do Azulejo - Parque das Nacoes with Europe's largest Oceanarium and other family-friendly enterntainment
