The Costa de Lisboa/Lisbon region
Lisbon is a beautiful city. It has nice weather all year long (300 days of sun per year). It's known as the city of seven hills with magnificent views over tagus river. It has a wonderful water front where you can walk along the river. A city with a huge history.
Lisbon / Central Lisbon area
Lisbon and the surrounding areas have a lot of places to visit. All of these places are accessible by public transportations.
In Lisbon we advise the following places: Parque Eduardo VII (Park), Praça Marquês de Pombal (monument), Praça do Comércio (Square), Castelo de São Jorge (Castle), Elevador da Glória (old elevator), Elevador de Santa Justa (old elevator), Igreja do Carmo (church), Padrão dos Descobrimentos (monument), Torre de Belém (monument), Mosteiro dos Jerónimos (monument), Alfama (old neighbourhood) and Parque das Nações (Expo 98). Just outside Lisbon I advise you to visit two other beautiful places: Sintra and Cascais.
To discover more about these places I advise you to see a Lisbon guide or to search the internet.
How to get there
The apartment is located just a few kilometres from the airport (10 minutes by taxi). There is also a shutlle bus from the airport to the city centre.

Guestbook for Casa São José
A well equipped apartment with good access to supermarkets, restaurants and easy access to the metro and all areas of interest. There is also a park in the vicinity. Richard, England.
Beautifully finished high spec apartment. Perfect crash pad for our girly shopping weekend! Leonie, England.
Excellent location to visit Lisbon. Good communication with metro, bus or train. The owners are very kind and helpful. Kate, Singapore.
Very friendly and helpful welcome. Clean, tidy and well equipped apartment. Well located for shops and metro. Park nearby. Easy access to local restaurants, and for walking to the main parts of Lisbon. Only 10/15 minutes drive from airport. Would definitely recommend to friends. R & D, UK.
We were warmly received by Andre and his family on a Saturday afternoon. He provided us with plenty information about the area and even suggested kids-friendly activities in Lisbon. The apartment is neat and well-maintened, with a good amount of kitchen supplies - we were able to cook meals for ourselves there :) The description/features of the apartment on the website is very truthful to what we met. Our toddler loved to climb the stairs up to the apartment (located on the 2nd floor)!!! The apartment had two portable cribs that suit our daughters needs and a very comfortable queen-size bed. The bathroom was a good sized one and very clean! The apartment is very well-located too. We used a car when we went to cities nearby (Sintra, Queluz, Mafra, Cascais) and public transportation to walk around Lisbon (bus 727 to Mosteiro dos Jeronimos/Belem neighborhood and subway to the other areas). Andre suggested a nearby parking garage for us at a reasonable price and just a couple of minutes walking distance. There is a very good supermarket at El Corte Ingles (open until 11 pm Monday-Saturday) - my toddler daughter didn't have any problems adapting to local yogurts, breads, cheeses, etc. The produce area is complete and fresh, just as what we have at home. We would definetely reccomend this apartment for friends or relatives (3 adults or 2 adults+2 children) - it's neat and well-located. Toddler & baby family, Texas, USA.
The warm welcome, the description, cleanliness, location, and comments by 'R and D' and 'Toddler and baby' reviews are absolutely correct. Andre and Christina's apartment is delightful. There are doubtless other good apartments in Lisbon but 89481 was perfect for us, especially the location. A few yards under the bridge, up the steps and to the right you have a restaurant, a main post office, and round the next corner the excellent Pingo Doce supermarket. Out of Ping Doce and 250 yards down R Tomas Ribeiro is the Picoas metro station. Alternatively up the steps and turn left there is a bank and ATM and round the corner on the Avenida Antonio Augusta a greengrocers, a Pharmacy on the opposite side, and the entrance to the Parque metro and up into the wonderful Parque Edwardo V11 with the fantastic Estufa Fria tropical greenhouse and bird rich little lake. At the top of the park don't miss the palatial facade of the Penitentiary and the astounding view down over Lisbon beyond the statue of the Marque de Pombal whose vision rebuilt Lisbon after the earthquake. Also north of the park lies the huge El Cortes Inglese Department store with access to the Sao Sebastiao metro under it from the restaurant and supermarket floor. Whilst in this area be sure to visit the wonderful Gulbenkian Museum.Other outstanding locations: Sintra via rail from Rossio station, Cascais from Cais do Sodre station, Belem on the 15 tram to see the Torre de Belem, the amazing Discoveries monument, the extraordinary Jeronimos Cloisters and Church and the warren of tile decorated rooms, bustling friendly waiters, and renowned custard tarts of the 170 year old Confeitera de Belem. Also step back in time and explore the twisting, steep, and cobbled streets of Alfama as you make your way up to the Castle Sao Jorge, the discovery of which towards the end of our stay, and the views laid out below, were perhaps a highlight of our holiday, because we could see in amazing detail the panorama of Lisbon and many of the places we had been to. Towards the end of your stay is also a good time to take the 1500 hours River sightseeing trip of 2 hours from the Estacia Fluvial terminal at Terreiro do Paco the blue metro line. The Estauradores Information Unit is only 4 stops down the blue line from Parque and there the Lisboa card can be obtained and the options for Carris tram, bus, and funicular travel be explained. We hope we have convinced you how convenient the comfortable Casa Sao Jose can be! Audrey and Michael, UK
Ruxandra, Ariana & Dana Romania Date of Stay: April 2009 Everything about this apartment was great. We were welcomed by Andre who provided us a lot of information about Lisbon (things to see, to do, transportation). He also left us a lot of information materials. We instantly felt like home in this cosy apartment and it was our home for this unforgetable week in Lisbon. It was exactly as we found the city: nice, warm, friendly, relaxing and open. Great time, great experience!
K. Tharalsen, USA. Date of Stay: December 2008 After renting apartments in several european countries, this was the first to have a personal touch from the owner. Everything was weel through out and arranged to ensure a smooth experience. We enjoyed our stay very much and would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment.
