The Costa de Lisboa/Lisbon region
Lisbon is the capital of Portugal and is on the Atlantic coast. It lies on the steep hills on the north bank of the river Tagus (Rio Tejo). Its proximity to the coast makes it an ideal choice for both sightseeing and sunbathing. There are many wonderful areas outside Lisbon that are easy to get to and make a lovely day trip, such as Estoril and Cascais, Costa de Caparica including Arrabida and Setubal, Sintra and Mafra and the wine area of Colares. The climate is pleasantly mild and rarely experiences extremes of temperature. It can be quite wet in the winter and is usually wettest in November. However, this makes sure that Lisbon and its surrounding areas are very green throughout the year.
Lisbon / Central Lisbon area
The apartment is a short walk from Jardim de Estrela and the Basilica de Estrela. The Fernando Pessoa Museum is up the road and worth visiting. There are many restaurants and cafés that spill out onto the pavements. If you are a walking enthusiast you can get to many places of interest on foot. Alternatively, a 2-min walk will take you to the tram 28 stop - ideal for sightseeing and for visiting Lisbon's 7 hills. It will take you down to the Baixa and then up to the Castle area and a few further hills will see you in the Graça neighbourhood. Opposite the apartment is the 74 bus stop which will take you to Amoreiras Shopping Centre and then onto Rato and Avenida de Liberdade. Public transport in Lisbon is cheap and efficient.
How to get there
Most budget airlines fly into Lisbon (Easyjet, Ryanair, Monarch Airlines, Vueling, German Wings, Air Berlin, etc.) The apartment is a 15 min drive by taxi from the airport and costs around EUR15. Alternatively, you can get the AeroBus to Avenida de Liberdade and then take bus number 9 (direction Prazeres) to the end of the line. It's a 2-min walk to the apartment. Most car hire companies are represented at the airport but it is not easy to park the car in the city centre.

Guestbook for Casa Lisboa
"Thank you again for everything. We had a splendid time in Lisbon. We enjoyed the city, the food, the markets, and also cooking in the apartment. We could find everything we needed for cooking in the kitchen, and the market nearby was just fabulous" TM, Finland, June 08
"we really enjoyed our stay in Lisbon. It is a beautiful apartment and I will definitely recommend it to anyone who is traveling to Lisbon. We will definitely visit again in the future." VL, UK, July 07
The flat was comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated. It contained everything we needed, including a helpful guidebook from the owner. The area is very nice, not at all touristy. This is a great place to stay if you really want to feel like you're living in Lisbon. Public transport and taxis are a few streets away. Plenty of cafes and shops around and a lovely park with a playground nearby. My daughters loved it. We had a great time here." MM, USA, Feb 08
"The apartment is fantastic - exactly as described! We are enjoying ourselves very much and getting to see some of the sights of Lisbon." DF, Australia, August 07
