Along this beautiful coastal area of Europe, the choice of beaches is endless and some of them are famous worldwide for their water sports activities
Cascais and Sintra (patrimony of UNESCO) offers some of the best bathing conditions and water-sports in Portugal, depending on the kind of beach you choose. A bigger or lower exposition to the Atlantic ocean means more or less crowded beaches and different water-sports. We recommend the coast along Estoril for sheltered beaches and from Cascais/Guincho until Praia das Maçãs for more wild conditions.
Between Lisbon/Sintra/Cascais you can choose cultural many activities.
LISBON, Portugal's bright capital, spreads along the north bank of the River Tagus, which meets the ocean here.
One of the few European capitals with both a river and a coastline
A tourist region par excellence, Sintra is one of the most delightful places to be found in Portugal. With its extensive range of green bills with its crags - the Serra de Sintra - so picturesquely situated and offering stupendous views of the coastline with its impressive beauty, Sintra is indeed "a garden of the earthly paradise", described by Byron as "the most pleasing in Europe"
A picturesque former fishermen's village, with the ocean ever present, it offers places of rare beauty such as the sea, Boca do Inferno, Cabo Raso and Guincho beach.
Serviced by a highway, an aerodrome and a marina, Cascais is a village of easy access. It is cheerful, busy and offers excellent cultural and hotel infrastructure with pleasant terraces, bars restaurants and commercial areas.
Has been the havens of many kings and aristocrats exiled during the 20th century and is internationally known for its beaches, exceptional weather, baths, casino and luxury hotels. It also offers Tennis and golf resorts, swimming pools and a pleasant promenade along the sea between Estoril and Cascais that gives access to several beaches.

The Costa de Lisboa/Lisbon region
The Lisbon area
New for 2012 is the wonderful Lisbon coast. This fantastic area was an immediate hit with us and we are sure it will quickly become a firm favourite for you too.
We have handpicked some of our best properties in fabulous locations which are an easy drive from Lisbon Airport. Just 28kms south of Lisbon, across the River Tagus is the beautiful Arrábida National Park with breathtaking scenery and beaches. Stretching for some 22 miles between Sesimbra and Setúbal, this area is carpeted by wild flowers which are amongst the most colourful and varied in Iberia. The coastline at Sesimbra is beautiful and dramatic, the town has some fantastic seafood restaurants and local activities include an array of water sports, scuba diving, climbing, cycle trails, horse riding and boat trips.
Quinta do Peru is also to the south of Lisbon, close to Azeitão. Located in a forest of pine and cork trees, it is an area of great natural beauty with an excellent golf course, dolphin watching trips can be arranged and kayaks and sail boats can be hired in nearby Setúbal. Similarly, Aroeira has two fabulous golf courses and a coastline which has some of the best beaches in Portugal. The area has a multitude of sporting activities including surfing, golf, tennis, squash, horse riding and sailing.
The food here is quite different from the Algarve with a tasty variety of stews, oven baked dishes and delicious Atlantic shellfish widely seen on menus. The medieval walled town of Óbidos (The Silver Coast) dates back to 308BC and is an important part of Portuguese history.
Portugal's Silver resort has everything from endless miles of white-sandy beaches to lush countryside, lively coastal resorts to enchanting medieval towns, the stunning Silver Coast combines a wonderful beach holiday with a fascinating cultural experience.
It's the perfect alternative to the Algarve, for those seeking the authentic Portugal experience.
Our featured resort of Bom Sucesso is a new concept incorporating a five star designer resort offering you the very best in first-class holiday rentals, golf, and all the facilities you would expect.
