Apartment | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
The guest room is in a seven-room apartment converted into a contemporary art gallery situated in a typical neighbourhood of Lisbon called Campo de Ourique. It is a unique place to stay in!
Four of the rooms are used as exhibition spaces and two others as a showroom and office. The independent bathroom (with bathtub), fully equipped kitchen and balcony are exclusively for the guests' use. The guest room is an independent room inside the apartment, which can be locked. It is for 2 people only (double bed).
The price includes bed linen, towels, free wireless internet access and cleaning. The use of a washing machine and iron is upon demand. In the neighbourhood, there are cafés, restaurants, small supermarkets, including a health food one. Parking is free in some streets of the neighbourhood and there is a parking below the Santo Condestavel church at the end of the street.
Campo de Ourique is a lovely quiet, residential and shopping area with some of Lisbon's best restaurants. The Fernando Pessoa House-Museum, six art galleries and the redeveloped market — where you can buy fresh produce or eat a gourmet meal in a variety of stalls — brought new life to this historic neighbourhood. Lisbon's typical trams — both 28 and 25 — stop at the end of the street. Hop in one of them and you'll be in Bairro Alto, Alfama, Chiado or the Baixa in no time. And if it's gardens you're looking for, the beautiful Jardim da Estrela is near.
The gallerist, when in her office at work in the afternoons (from 3 to 8 pm Tuesday to Saturday), can give you all the tips you need during your stay, especially regarding cultural tourism. You can schedule an art tour, comprised of visits to galleries, cultural institutions, Portuguese fashion and furniture designers, amongst other hidden cultural interests. Guests can also practice yoga with a private instructor on the premises (upon request).
There are several alternatives to get to the apartment from the airport. The fastest is to take a taxi: the cost is around €10 (+ €1,60 for each piece of luggage) and it takes about 20 minutes. You can also take the subway to the Rato station (yellow line), which is a 15-minute walk from the apartment. There's also a shuttle — Aerobus — that takes you to the centre of Lisbon, but you'd have to get a second bus in order to get to the apartment.
