Lisbon

On the highest hill of Lisbon is located the Bairro da Graça, one of the oldest and most beautiful of the capital, built on land where, by the time of the nationality constitution, was a huge olive grove. Graça saw the increase of its population after the 1755 earthquake and these new inhabitants build simple homes and also imposing palaces. During the dissolution of the religious orders Graça Neighborhood undergoes a major change, the Convent becomes Barracks, the Santa Marinha Largo Church is demolished and much of the convent lands were expropriated and sold to individuals. With the industrialization of Beato and Xabregas, Graça meets new people, this time workers who decide to live there. It starts the period of the courtyards, the working class neighbourhoods and, above all, the workers' villages built with aesthetic sense and town planning criteria. Graça goes on to be a region of workers' villages such as "Vila Estrela d'Ouro", built in 1908, or "Vila Berta", built between 1902 and 1908. With a curious mixture of cosmopolitanism and rurality, the area is known and sought after for its Viewpoints, where you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the city. You can also find traditional and handicraft shops as well as nice restaurants and bakeries.

It's located 5 minutes walking from the 'Saint Jorge Castle' and the 'Portas do Sol' viewpoint.
