A very central apartment with a contemporary and stylish decoration, in the old part of Lisbon, Alfama, but in the lower part of the neighbourhood. On the 4th floor hence ample views and flooded by light all year. Easy access to public transport.

The apartment has fantastic light and is very bright. Is located on the4th floor without elevator (corresponds to a 3rd floor of a current building) but is worth it!

Located right in front of the Jardim do Tabaco where many ship cruises docked at the port. Located in the heart of Lisbon, near all the most important sites to visit, with the popular bus 28 near your doorstep (only 50 meters) that runs from the north of Lisbon (Parque das Nações) to Belém. The subway is also very close, about 8 min walking. From the apartment to down town (Praça do Comércio/Terreiro do Paço) is about 10 min stroll along the beautiful river Tejo.

The apartment has just been totally refurbished and decorated to a very high standard. It has ample views of Alfama's churches and rooftops and is flooded by natural light all day. There are two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a large double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers. The second bedroom as two single beds, wardrobe and chest of drawers. All rooms in the house have double glazed windows to the outside so light is abundant. The living room has a dining area, large flat LED TV, cable and wireless internet. All the rooms in the house have double glazed windows including the bathroom and kitchen, making the house sound proof should you not wish to listen to the wonderful FADO being sang in the local restaurants. The kitchen is spacious and is fully equipped with ceramic hob, fan assisted electric oven, all the utensils you could possibly need for a dinner party, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer and a large microwave. The family bathroom has a walk-in shower.

Alfama is the oldest district of Lisbon, spreading on the slope between the São Jorge Castle and the Tejo river. Its name comes from the Arabic Al-hamma, meaning fountains or baths. It includes the freguesias (parishes) of São Miguel, Santo Estêvão, São Vicente de Fora and part of two streets of Freguesia da Sé: Rua do Barão and Rua São João da Praça. It contains many important historical attractions, with many Fado bars and restaurants. The great 1755 Lisbon Earthquake did not destroy the Alfama, which has remained a picturesque labyrinth of narrow streets and small squares. Lately the neighbourhood has been invigorated with the renovation of the old houses and new restaurants where Fado—Portuguese typical melancholy music—can be enjoyed.

Overlooking the Alfama is the mediaeval Castle of São Jorge, royal residence until the early 16th century and now offering the best views of the city. In the slopes of Alfama there are other terraces (miradouros) from which to see the city, like the Miradouro de Santa Luzia, near the church of the same name and over remnants of the Moorish city walls, and the Miradouro das Portas do Sol (Gates of the Sun). Near Miradouro of Santa Luzia is located the Museum of Decorative Arts (Museu de Artes Decorativas), a 17th-century mansion with magnificent interiors.

Among the churches of the Alfama are Lisbon Cathedral (12th–14th centuries), the oldest of the city and located to the West of the neighbourhood, the Convent of the Grace (Convento da Graça, 18th century), near the Castle, the mannerist Monastery of São Vicente de Fora (late 16th–18th century), where the Kings of the House of Braganza are buried, and the baroque Church of Santa Engrácia (17th century), now converted into a National Pantheon for important Portuguese personalities.(Wikipidia)

Being in the heart of Lisbon, public transportation is very easy to get. The popular bus 28 that runs Lisbon from north to south (including Belem) is at your doorstep. There are two subway stations nearby, Terreiro do Paço (8 min walking) and Sta. Apolónia (9 min walking).

A very central apartment inserted in the old part of Lisbon, Alfama, but in the lower part of the Alfama neighbourhood (no street climbing required). Easy access to public transport, main road and car park.
