About the home

This fantastic property has everything you need for a relaxing break away from it all. The recently renovated Mas de Cauvessargues stone house is ideally located in the peaceful historic village of Liouc and looks out onto rolling countryside to the foothills of vineyard and the mountains of the Cévennes. It has the most amazing panoramic views, with its tranquillity and sense of timelessness, the Mas has been superbly and lovingly restored with every care taken to preserve its unique character, which makes it ideal for a break where you can just relax and forget about driving if you wish. It also has easy access to the main road between Montpellier and Nimes, which allows the surrounding areas to be explored very easily.

The gite has one bedroom (accommodates 2-4 people)and has an open-plan day room containing the kitchen, dining, sitting areas and shower room / w.c.You have full access to a 11 x 6 m Swimming Pool, large garden with a badminton court and private car park.

If you enjoy outdoors exploring, walking, cycling, fishing, gliding, canoeing or relaxing, cooking, painting or reading, this is the place for you! The gite has its own terrace where you can enjoy eating or relaxing.

The property is perfect for children of all ages. We provide cots, high chairs and a baby bathtub.

Booking for the high season (i.e June to September) must be for a minimum of one week starting on Saturday.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Gard region

The Gard region of France has the best of all worlds enjoying a Mediterranean climate with sunshine & clear blue skies most of the year. The summers are hot and dry and extend well into the autumn. The winter can be cold but still with glorious blue skies. Spring and autumn are lovely times to be here. The beaches of the Mediterranean are only 45 minutes away. Markets include Ales, Sommieres and Uzes with all local specialities: cheese, olive oil, fresh herbs, honey & vegetables. Less than an hour away from the famous Pont du Gard Roman aquaduct and the new Millau Viaduct. The beautiful Roman city of Nimes ( 30 minutes from the gite ) which offers historical interest as well as diverse shopping opportunities, and the Papal grand city of Avignon (an hour and a half away from the gite). Avignon, Orange and Aix-en-Provence all hold prestigious music and theatre festivals throughout the summer months and there is also the wonderful city of Arles, made particularly famous by artists such as Van Gogh and Picasso.

Vineyards to visit on the way to Montpellier and excellent wine to buy direct from the producers.

The Liouc area

There are many festivals throughout the year in this region. A holiday in this area is guaranteed not to disappoint!

The property is situated close to the Cevennes National Park, 3 minutes from the town of Quissac and there's no shortage of things to do! Magnificent views, lots of activities, markets to visit, museums, superb walking countryside. Local river for swimming, fishing, horse riding, golf, tennis, visiting caves, silk mills,etc. are all within a very short drive. Skiing is within an hour and a half drive – depending on the snow!! Also the Grand Motte (miles of golden sandy beaches), unspoilt beaches of the Camargue famous for its wild white horses and pink flamingos, and indeed seafood, the Camargue is a land like no other

Ryanair Flights from Luton to Nimes ( 30 min Drive ), Stanstead to Montpellier ( 35 min Drive), Liverpool and Dublin to Carcassonne ( 2 hours Drive ), E Midlands and Cardiff to Marseille ( 1 hour and a half Drive ).

“A great little find, perfectly situated between coast and mountains” The gite was just perfect for our needs,being well-equipped and furnished, with a lovely balcony overlooking the surrounding hills. We were especially pleased that the owners welcomed our dog. We also had the use of a beautiful infinity pool. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners, who live adjacent, and they provided us with plenty of information to make the most of our stay. The only downside we found was the rather uninspiring approach, as it is tucked away down a long lane, behind some other buildings, however, once there it is a delightful little world all of it's own. The location was ideal, as it is only 40 minutes drive to the coast and the Carmargue to the south and 40 minutes into the Cevennes foothills to the north. The nearest shops are less than 10 minutes away, We loved this very diverse region and will certainly return, as there is so much to see and do that we only just scratched the surface!
