Windy Yett Farm is best accessed by car. We’re roughly 30 minutes by car from the edge of both Glasgow and Edinburgh. The farm is 0.7 miles from the main road via a private farm track (it’s a wee bit bumpy).
Buses to Falkirk running reasonably regularly from near the road end. Falkirk High Rail Station is around 4 miles away with fast regular links to Edinburgh (22mins), Glasgow (22mins) and others beyond.
From Glasgow:
Head along the M8 and then come off at Junction 4. Head for Linlithgow/Falkirk and then watch for sign posts for Avonbridge. Head to Avonbridge and see the map. Head all the way through Avonbridge and straight out the otherside. About a quarter of a mile after leaving the town there is a sharp right hand bend with a wee road off to the left. Head down that road (you should see a wee olde worlde sign with ‘Windy-Yett Farm’ on it as you’re turning into it. Take the track road heading off into the distance. Just keep going further than you think and take it slowly, it's just a tad pot holed.
From Edinburgh/Edinburgh Airport:
Take the M9 heading for Stirling, come off at junction 4, at the junction roundabout take the 2nd turn off sign posted Bathgate/ Livingston. Keep going to the next roundabout (with a Jet garage just off). Take 3rd turn off sign posted Caldercruix/ Avonbridge. Keep going until you hit Avonbridge and turn right at the T-junction. From Dundee:
Head down to forth road bridge. Immediately after crossing the bridge come off the road at the A8000 at the top turn right and head on the A904 towards Newton. Keep going for a bit till you get a left turn that allows you to pass under the M9 and join it heading towards Stirling. Our group of 10 friends stayed in Windy Yett for a weekend in November and had a fantastic time. The house is excellent with the main lounge a real focal point and hub. Like the previous poster... more |

Went here for a weekend away with some friends and really was better than we could have imagined. First of all the place looks superb. Huge kitchen, living room with very nice surround sound system. From the outside it looks like a proper rustic farm house which I loved but there has also been a lot of time spent equipping the property with all mod cons. Can't really say anything bad about the place though I would warn that the road there lends itself to a land rover more than a Porsche but we managed fine with a normal car filled with 5 people plus luggage so as long as you take it slow there shouldn't be a problem. The place is secluded enough to feel away from it all but still only a short drive from a couple of Spar type shops for when you need to restock food. And I understand Tesco isn't that far away either. I will definitely be recommending this place to friends and family, and I'm even considering coming back sometime next year. |
