The Heart of England/Peak District

Set in the Lincolnshire Fens, this is an idyllic location, perfect for walking, biking and lovers of wildlife. Outside of the geese, bats, owls and freshwater pike, there is no nightlife here!

Bardney is one of the few places where the 'riot act' has actually been read!

Only 45 minutes from the Historic Civil War Town of Newark on Trent - a hub of independently owned shops, eateries, pubs with beautiful river walks and Newark Castle. Well worth a visit!

Lincoln

20 mins from the historic Cathedral City of Lincoln (The Cathedral is beautiful and well worth a visit). Lincoln Castle is also home to the Lincoln Magna Carta, dating back to 1215, as well as the Charter of the Forest. And it's the only place where you can see the two documents together in the world!

Cycle Hire available from the Heritage Centre http://www.bardneyheritage.com/ to enjoy the sustrans route between Lincoln and Boston. More fascinating historical information at: http://community.lincolnshire.gov.uk/bardneyvillagehistory/

"Fantastic cottage in beautiful area"

We couldn't fault this cottage - beautifully decorated and furnished with lots of nice extra touches like the welcome pack of food, fresh flowers, unlimited logs for the log burner, etc. We also loved the info. pack about the history of the cottage - really fascinating. The area is beautiful, and it's pretty unique to stay right next to a lock on the river - amazing views from upstairs windows. Plenty of walks from the cottage, we didn't use our car once, our dog loved it too. Would highly recommend.

Weather was very cold but the cosy log burning stove soon warmed us up. Great place for watching wildlife, long walks along the river, and very handy for Lincoln. Cottage has everything you need for a break and there was a welcolm pack provided. Would like to go back in warmer weather so we can enjoy sitting in the garden watching the world go by
