24 Burton Road
House | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4
24 Burton Road will appeal to people interested in visiting this historic city, whether to see the magnificent cathedral, to explore its history , to attend a graduation ceremony or a concert, or to shop for antiques, clothes or presents.
The house is cottage in style and although the sitting room is snug with 4 people in, the middle room and kitchen have been opened out to give it a light airy feel, making it a very pleasant place to sit around the table. Two bedrooms share a good sized bathroom with shower and bath. Centrally heated. High chair and travel cot available.
The large kitchen opening onto a sunny patio is inviting for families and offers the opportunity to save on restaurant and hotel bills, though with the many bistros and restaurants close by, visitors are sure to be tempted.
Lincoln has been a well kept secret for many years but in recent times, with the growth of its university on the marina, improved road connections and the success of the celebrated Xmas market, the city is becoming a popular destination for those seeking something new.

The Heart of England/Peak District
Lincoln is steeped in rich history. Whether your interest is in medieval, Roman or aviation history (think Dambusters and Red Arrows) , in archaeology, art or antiques, there is plenty for the enthusiast.
Lincolnshire is known as a county of long sunsets, windmills and leisurely cycle paths but the visitor is often surprised to find the gently rolling hills of Tennyson country to the east, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with its own market towns such as Louth and Horncastle. To the south you find a string of quaint villages along the escarpment known as the LIncolnshire Edge with a network of country walks, some criss crossing with the Viking Way and interlocking with enticing traditional pubs.
Driving west brings you to Robin Hood Country with country parks (try Clumber Park) and Sherwood Forest.
Lincoln city itself boasts the historic area around the cathedral known as Bailgate, as well as a being a vibrant city offering all the amenities expected of a university town. Connecting the two is the aptly named Steep Hill with its fascinating mix of boutique shops, where you can buy everything from jewelry to vintage clothing,as well as plenty of galleries and cafes. Don't miss The Jew's House!
With Ellis Windmill, the Museum of Lincolnshire Life, the cathedral and castle, the Joseph Banks tropical house and Steep Hill all on your doorstep, 24 Burton Road offers an effortless way to discover this lovely city.
The city is flanked by two commons and West Common is conveniently close for those who like to jog or walk. Nearby riding stables also make use of this area and there are riverside pubs and restaurants nearby which are popular with people who have walked, cycled, ridden or arrived by boat.
Highlight of the year is the Christmas market in December but the calendar is well packed with festivals, farmers' markets (again within walking distance), large scale events on the Showground such as the June Lincolnshire Show which showcases all the county has to offer, steam fairs, concerts and graduation ceremonies.

"Incredible House, Incredible Location, Incredible Service"
Knowing Lincoln quite well I expected a small house for the location. Well the house is quite the tardis. It's got loads of room, including an absolutely fantastic kitchen. It is in a fantastic location, the bailgate area of Lincoln is absolutely beautiful, and there is no shortage of amenities. Communication from the owner was fantastic and they went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience for our christmas stay, including having a tree waiting for us when we arrived.
I really couldn't recommend this property enough, we didn't want to leave.

"Lingering Memories of Lincoln"
This mid-terrace property is ideally located for exploring Lincoln City Centre. A 10 minute stroll sees you at the top of Steep Hill (voted Britain's Best Street 2012) with all its delightful individual shops/eating/drinking establishments. The property itself is extremely welcoming and a real "home from home"! It's very well equipped (particularly the kitchen) and, if you're lucky enough to enjoy decent weather (as we did), the courtyard garden is quite charming and ideal for relaxing with a pot of tea and a slice of lemon-drizzle cake in the sunshine! Bedroom 2 is a bit cramped with limited facilities to accommodate your stuff but, having said that, has a very comfortable bed and is very quiet indeed!! There are two very comfortable sitting-rooms with some nice touches and free wi-fi. Tessa Smith (the owner) was very helpful and professional in catering for all our needs, as well as responding promptly to all our communications. Many thanks from Graham and Jules Wright in Suffolk.

"GREAT location - easy walking distance to cathedral, shops, restaurants"
the only small issues i had were with intermittent wireless, and the fact it was a bit noisy in the late evening when people came out of the pub!
bedrooms are small but cozy and warm. (there are 2 bedrooms - both with double beds - not much extra room for a cot, so expect to sleep 4 realistically ). lots of hot water. kitchen nicely self-contained. clean rooms.

"Comfortable property in 'real' Lincoln near to Cathedral, Museums and many 'individual' shops."
We had a bitterly cold week in February. The heating was more than adequate, but we missed it not being 'central heating', with the advantage of not having to think about when to switch heaters on etc. At a less cold time of year this would not be a problem. It has a lovely little garden, and eating area, making a summer stay here very pleasant. If you have a very large vehicle, parking in the space provided may be a bit problematic.
Central heating installed August 2013. Lovely to be warm and cosy when we get a severe winter!

"Lovely little house in very good position"
We stayed here for a week in July. The ground floor is very well designed being open plan with pleasant lounge, middle room with desk, and a lovely kitchen and outside patio with parking space.
The house has a large 1st floor bathroom & two double bedrooms.
For sightseeing, it's almost opposite the castle & 5 minutes away from the cathedral and many restaurants. It's close to a museum & mill & a common with horses. Thoroughly recommend.
