The moment you arrive you know you are near the Mediterranean - the crickets, the intoxicating smell of hot pine needles, thyme & the peppery scent of herbs in the sun confirm that you are in this vibrant area,

Some of the finest monuments in Europe are here, many date from Roman times; - this is the centre of Templar & Cathare country in southern France with a castle, abbey or mill attached to almost every town & village;

Carcassonne, principle city of the Aude with its splendid citadel needs little introduction; a stunning walled Cathar city castle; Narbonne - with its Castle & Palace of the Kings of Menorca, pedestrianised street shopping & calm atmosphere of the canal du midi is also not to be missed

Climate generally excellent, 300 sunshine days, maximum for France; clear mountain air, stunning blue skies, hot days with pleasantly cool nights, swim from spring to autumn with wonderful colours around you:

"A relaxing and pleasant holiday house"

Excellent house for families or a group of friends. Ideal with children. The house is clean and has all the comforts. Adults and children loved the reception area to play, sit and relax. We,d love to come back in summer to enjoy the magnificent pool. The area is unspoilt and very quiet. An excellent spot to unwind, relax and chill. The house keepers are very friendly and helpful with anything you need. We loved Carcassonne, the catar castles and the impressive Gorges de Galamus.

"Peace & Tranquility"

The house was spacious & roomy for up to 18 people but we were a family group of 14, so even more space. The garden was wonderful, the scenery around the whole property was lovely with the enormous swimming pool centrally positioned, we never left its side. The village restaurant by the river was one of the best we have visited. This is a rural location which at first seems slightly remote but we soon realised everything is readily available including fresh bread every day & each of the villages had different things to offer with a castle in all of them. We fully recommend Lanet as a centre to explore & enjoy the area from Carcassonne to Perpignan on the coast although it was hard to leave our village & holiday home.
