The Languedoc-Roussillon / Aude region
Perfectly sited for a varied holiday: only one hour from both the sun-drenched BEACHES of the Mediterranean in the summer, and SKIING in the glorious Pyrenees! Limoux, straddling the beautiful River Aude, is in the very heart of wine country. The closest major vinter open for wine tasting is within 300 yards of our house! The stunningly beautiful region features hilltop medieval villages, Cathar castles, ancient Abbeys and the world-famous medieval Cite in Carcassonne. Natural attractions include amazing limestone caverns, thermal hot springs, clear rivers and lakes perfect for swimming. The magnificent beaches of the Mediterranean, the majestic Pyrenees and the delights of Spain make Limoux a day tripper's paradise.
Limoux area
Friendly Limoux is famous for Europe's longest winter carnival which runs from January through March. Musicians and Maskers in traditional costumes lead tourists and townspeople from pub to pub, re-enacting local history. The lively town square is the site of frequent summer festivals and the surrounding Abbeys play host to wonderful summer concerts. Each day of the week one of the local towns hosts a lively, colourful market with local produce, breads, meats and collectibles. Fall brings the wine festival to the square where everyone gathers to sample the new wines and enjoy the offerings of the square's numerous restaurants. The mysteries of Rennes Le Chateau, featured in the book "The Holy Blood, The Holy Grail", are a short, beautiful drive from the house. Lac de la Cavayere offers swimming, boating, walking/cycling trails and sand volleyball. White water rafting, canoeing, golfing, hiking and a forest recreation park are all available nearby. The area is a favourite for cyclists.

Guestbook for Les Lauriers
"Les Lauriers, what a beautiful place! The house is really charming and Limoux is just the size of a French town we like ". Mr. & Mrs. Richters, Germany
"We had a dream holiday in Limoux! The house was perfect- spacious and comfortable- we loved having our meals on the patio. Limoux is a charming town in an area of great beauty: rolling hills, vineyards, medieval towns perched on hilltops. All the people we met were friendly and helpful. It was an idyllic three weeks." K. Severson & R. Chudley, British Columbia, Canada
"We had a lovely vacation in France – it just goes by too quickly! It is a very nice touch that you provided charcoal for the grill – not all places do this. The towels were nice, plush and plentiful – again not always the case." Mr. & Mrs. Van Sickle, California, USA
