Modern, fully equipped 2 bedroomed house, situated on the outskirts of the bustling riverside market town of Limoux, with private garden,terrace and barbecue with use of heated pool* at owner's adjacent property, with separate sunbathing area exclusively for guests.
Limoux has a wide variety of bars and restaurants and good shopping facilities.Sports include kayaking, horse riding,cycling,hiking and tennis.Easy access to the fortified city of Carcassonne(airport & golf 25 mins.), the Meditteranean coast and the Pyrenees, each an hour's drive. Budget flights available Stansted to Carcassonne.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Aude region

This is one of the sunniest areas of France one where you can remember the rainy days because there are so few. A perfect climate to explore or just enjoy the sunshine.
It would be a shame,though, not to do some exploring of this area steeped in history.You are after all in the heart of the Cathar country where you can relive the epic 13th century crusades against the heretics,visit the numerous Chateaux of the area, and no visit to the area would be complete without a visit to "La Cite Medieval" of Carcassonne.
Budget flights available Stansted, Liverpool, Glasgow, East Mids. and Dublin to Carcassonne (Ryanair).
There is also Toulouse airport (Jet2.com) an hour and a half away as is Perpignan airport(Ryanair)

The Limoux area

Limoux is a bustling riverside market town with a good variety of shops and restaurants in and around the traditional market square.
There are numerous activities within short distances, water sports including rafting and kayaks. Horse riding, hiking, skiing in winter in the glorious Pyrenees.
There are many festivals throughout the year in Limoux centred around the market square.
A must is driving through the breathtaking gorges of the Aude and taking the waters in the natural spa's of Alet les Bains and Rennes les Bains.
Why not visit the fantastic medieval city of Carcassonne where there is also a challenging 18 hole golf course and the excellent Lake Cavayere with lots of water based activities and the O2 climbing area with its zip wires strewn through the trees and over the lake!

Drive using A61 motorway, 30 mins from Carcassonne junction (23).
Fly to Toulouse, just over 1 hours drive away.
Perpignan airport 1 hour 45 mins drive
Carcassonne airport 20 mins. (Budget flights available via Stansted, Liverpool and Dublin with Ryan air)
Barcelona Girona airport is 2.5 hours drive away.

“Fantastic Gite, Wonderful Hosts, Great Location” My partner and I have just returned from a fantastic week at this Gite. It is brilliantly equipped, super clean and very comfortable. It is situated amongst vineyards and not far off the main road. The owners, Allison and Kevin Downie are fabulous hosts. They go out of their way to ensure you have a great time. Allison will go shopping for you before you arrive and ensure you have the basics to eat and drink. The Gite has a sparkling swimming pool and the grounds are fully enclosed,. So no danger of the children making a bid for freedom !! Nearby are a plethora of Restaurants, whilst the number of vineyards offering a tasting experience are countless. Restaurants range from fast food outlets to Michelin starred gems. The area is great for sightseeing,offering towns with excellent markets, mountains with spectacular views, and historic walled cities. I cannot express how much I enjoyed visiting this gite. Allsion and Kevin are marvellous and will go the extra mile to help with any of your needs. Visit it, you will not only enjoy it but have a memorable experience that will make you want to return. We will certainly go back again and again and again........
