Home description
The house (we call it "megaro") is a historic house dated around 1890 (we do not know the exact day that it was built). It is a mixture of venetian and neo-classic style. The house was gutted and rebuilt with strict historical guidance, preserving the true character of the area and the history of the island.
This is not in the touristic area. It is in the real thing in the old part of the town as it used to be with a touch of modern civilization; fully air conditioned, heated, dishwasher, oven, toaster, microwave, dvd player, cd player, wireless internet etc.
The house is bright and full of character. Five meter ceilings make it feel extremely pleasant. There are 1 queen/king sized bed in the first bedroom, a bunk bed and a queen bed in the other bedroom.
There is a television and a DVD (few movies are available) but no satellite or cable hook up, just local Greek channels. We also have few toys and games for the little ones. It is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath, with a comfortable living room, large dining room and eat-in kitchen. This is a two story building. Our part (the one you are staying in) is on the first / ground floor. The second level is the office of my brother who is an architect who is managing the property.

The Limassol District
The house is located in the historic part of Lemesos (Limassol) in Cyprus. The actual location is ideal for vacationers. It is 1/4 miles from the beach and 300m from the promenade of the town. Basically you will be within a 10 minute walk from the castle area, the market, the shopping district and restaurant district.
If you like history and you are willing to go beyond the known destinations there are so much to see in Cyprus. Numerous Vizantium Christian churches that are usually overlooked are hidden in the mountains (we will provide destinations), medieval settlements. Nevertheless, Classic and Hellenistic sides can keep you busy for more than a week.
There are of course the usual water parks and the likes.
Before you go we will provide with useful links and ideas. Do not hesitate to ask us. Just be prepared for hot weather :)
Limassol area
Limassol is a lively Mediterranean port city with many things to do. The main area around the Castle is buzzing with restaurants, coffee shops, bars etc. There are also a number of eclectic restaurants along Ayio Andreou (100 m) from the house.
Around the house you will also find "psistaries". These are take out places that specializing in "home cooking". You will find more authentic and local dishes at psistaries rather than most restaurants. This is one of the best things in Cyprus. The one closest to the house is by far the best, providing vegetarian dishes you will never find in restaurants. And very affordable (a family can eat for 10/15EUR).
There are few souvlaki places nearby (kebab houses) for a quick take out. A local supermarket and few bakeries and pastries shops.
Every evening the locals go for a walk at the promenade which is 7 minutes walk from the house. There are few tavernas and cafes along the beach very close to the house, music bars, Greek tavernas with live music bookstores etc.
