Lima displays a degree of diversity well befitting the largest city in Peru. Much of this is can be attributed to its historical artifacts.
Many small beaches, are located to the south of Lima. The most well-known ones are located in the districts of Santa María del Mar, Punta Hermosa, Punta Negra, San Bartolo and Pucusana. Also, the district of Ancón, located north of the city, has a very popular beach resort.
The Lima / Miraflores District area
Has streets lined with cafés, restaurants and bars. It is the major tourist area of the city and is the main focus of Lima's action and nightlife. The suburb's central focus is (Parque Kennedy) Miraflores Park at the end of the Avenida Arequipa, which has a good craft and antiques markets in the evening.
Famous for its malecón (ocean front), this district offers an impressive assortment of shopping, cultural centres, pubs and fine restaurants. Miraflores is dynamic, safe and well organized place to visit or live in Lima.
There are a number of tourist attractions in Miraflores, including the Huaca Pucallana a pre-Inca temple with a small site museum. There are a couple of good, private museum collections in Miraflores. The Enrico Poli Museum has one of the best private collections of archaeological artefacts in Lima, although it is rather expensive. The Museo Amano has a good collection of textiles, mainly from the Chancay culture.
Miraflores' only important mansion open to the public is the Casa de Ricardo Palma, at General Suarez where Palma, probably Peru's greatest historian, lived for most of his life. .Worth visiting also in Miraflores is the Parque del Amor, which features a prominent statue of two lovers in a passionate embrace. The apartment is located only 5 blocks from the busy cafe shopping area by the sea called Larco Mar.

“Our family of 7 adults stayed in the Lima apartment for a week. The location is wonderful with a top-notch restaurant (Tanta) and cafe (San Antonio) on the same block. There are also banks and grocery stores within close walking distance. The apartment building is secure and safe with a beautiful roof-top pool and lounge area. Having access to free wi fi and cable t.v. in the apartment was also an essential luxury that we were grateful for. The owners were very ameniable and great to communicate with”.
"We really enjoyed staying in this apartment. We were 5 ladies on vacation and it was the perfect size with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Very comfortable with washer/dryer, WIFI, terrace (plus rooftop patio), fully equipped kitchen (including wine opener : ), and HUGE showers (hot water never ran out). The location was PERFECT! We went across the street every morning to San Antonio restaurant for breakfast. Larcomar is very close, and so is Vivanda and Metro for buying groceries. Absolutely no need for a cab."
