Gite Isabelle
About the home
Isabelle is a two bedroomed gite (one double bedroom and one twin bedroom) which sleeps four people + cot. Both bedrooms are on suite. We believe that this building served as a community bread oven and still maintains many of its original features including wooden beams, exposed stone walls, the large bread oven and the original stone sink.
The accommodation consists of a lounge and dinning area with a separate kitchen. To the back of the kitchen is a washroom with toilet and wash basin. The lounge area has two large comfortable sofas, TV with Games console (plus games) and DVD player (with a selection of DVD's). The dining area has a large table with six chairs. Little ones are also catered for with a stair gate, high chair and wooden cot.
The kitchen is fully equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, oven, microwave, fridge freezer, kettle and toaster, all utensils, pots and pans and plenty of crockery, glasses and cutlery. Also available is a large clothes dryer, ironing board & iron.
Upstairs is the en suite master bedroom and en suite twin bedroom.
Our gites are child and baby friendly with proper cots, high chairs, baby baths, stair gates and strollers provided. Each gite also has a travel cot which can be taken outside, into the shade of the hanger, so that babies can have a nap during the day whilst you can continue to enjoy the pool and garden.
Outside the front of the gite is a table and four chairs for you to enjoy croissants & pain au chocolats in the morning sunshine. This gite has a privacy fence separating you from gite Eleanor so that if you are not renting both gites, you can enjoy sitting outside in private.
Outside in the large garden is an in ground swimming pool and 16ft trampoline providing hours of fun for all the family together with a large open sided barn where you can enjoy outside dining. The garden and pool enjoy a panoramic view of the countryside.
WIFI is also available throughout the gite.
Thank you for looking.

Further details outdoors:
The Swimming Pool
The 8m x 4m in ground swimming pool is fenced with a latched gate and pool alarm to protect young children. The pool enjoys the sun all day long with shade being provided by two large sails. There are plenty of sun loungers available with additional patio chairs if required. A bubble cover is also provided which if used each evening will maintain the pool temperature overnight.
The end of the pool nearest the steps has a shallow end of approximately 4ft with a slope going into the deep end which is approximately 6.5ft. There is also a shallower edge which runs around the edge of the pool.
Fantastic views across miles of open countryside can be enjoyed in and around the pool area.
The Hanger
The hanger is a large open sided barn area and is a perfect place to enjoy meals and BBQ's. Outdoor electricity points are available for you to listen to music. The hanger enjoys shade throughout the day and is an ideal place to cool off. Because it is next to both the pool and the trampoline, it is an ideal place to monitor children.
At night, because there is no light pollution, why not sit outside and enjoy a fantastic night sky. You won't believe how many stars you can see - even the spiral arm of the galaxy is visible on a clear night.
The Courtyard
There is a large graveled courtyard that runs along the front of the cottages. Outside of each gite is a set of table and chairs for you to enjoy croissants & pain au chocolats in the morning sunshine.
The gites are separated by a gated alleyway that leads to the rear garden and for added privacy we have installed a fence between the two gites. Through the wooden gates at the end of the courtyard is ample space to park several cars.
Along the front of the courtyard is an ivy covered wall separating the properties from the small country road. There is very little traffic along this road, in fact rush hour consists of the farmer's tractor and the post van. At night this is a very peaceful area for parents to sit in and enjoy a bottle of fine French wine whilst the little ones sleep off their busy day. The loudest thing you will hear will be the crickets.
Smoking is not permitted inside the property, however, you are welcome to smoke outside so long as no litter is left.
Further details
All prices are shown in UK pounds sterling and are inclusive of electricity, gas, bed linen, bath and hand towels. Beach towels for use by the pool and cot linen are not supplied. Payments can be taken in Euros by prior arrangement.
The swimming pool is available for use during mid, high and peak seasons only.
Change over day is normally Friday with arrivals from 16:00. Please do not arrive any earlier as the house will not be ready for you. Final day departure is by 10am. Please leave the house as clean and tidy on departure as you found it on arrival. There will be an extra cleaning charge taken from your security deposit should this not be the case.
Friday Changeovers
We chose Friday as our changeover day because we have always found the traffic on Fridays to be so much better (coming and going) than Saturdays with cheaper crossings. This also means that you will be able to shop on a Saturday and visit the market in Loches rather than face closed or limited hours shopping on a Sunday. Also, when you return, you still have a weekend before facing work again. Friday changeovers are fixed during peak and high seasons but during mid season we would consider a different changeover day.
Pets are welcome by prior arrangement with the owners.

The Ligueil / Cercay area
The gites are only two minutes drive away from the town of Ligueil (pronounced Li-goi). Although Ligueil is a small town it has all the facilities you need for an enjoyable holiday including patisseries, bars, restaurants, a butcher, doctors, dentists, banks and a pharmacy to name but a few. Ligueil also has its own supermarket (Simply) which stocks pretty much everything thing you will need. There is even a market held every Monday.
For bigger supermarkets you can travel to St-Maure-de-Touaine where you will find a large Intermarché or head towards Loches for Super U or E.Leclerc.
There are lot of activities in and around the area including three excellent 18 hole golf courses within 1 hours drive, Walking, Wine tasting, Theme parks and Fishing to name a few. More information and maps / websites can be found on our website (link below in contact box).
For wine tasting take a trip to Chinon or Vouvray, both of which are around an hour's drive away.
Loches (pronounced Losh) is a beautiful medieval town and is approximately a 20 minute drive from the gites. Loches has many excellent shops, bars and restaurants and there is a market held there every Wednesday and Saturday. When you arrive in Loches, you can not fail to spot the impressive chateau and fortress which stands above the town and is well worth a visit.

The accomodation and facilities were beyond our expectations, the cottages have absolutly everything you need, even for small children which is rare with gite rental. The pool area is beautiful and relaxing with lots of loungers and shade for little ones, but still provides total security for children. One of the best areas is the hanger where hours can be spent playing games with the kids, my youngest often had her afternoon nap here or just watching the sun set with a glass of wine. In short a wonderful place and can't wait to go back. |
