Château de Cravial is a 14th century hunting lodge - a miniature castle in the middle of the Brittany countryside
Château de Cravial is a slice of French charm without protocol or overwhelming acreage. Tucked away behind breton farmland, a long track opens up onto a vista of the famous tower, which can be glimpsed at through the trees. Built in 1251, it was used as a hunting lodge for the Princes of Rohan from 1384 when they wanted a bolthole from the hustle of nearby Guémené sur Scorff. It is five minutes by road to a compact busy village that boasts three boulangeries, a cinema and a weekly market, as well as an active cultural life. The château is a reflection the owners eclectic and antique style. The airy spaces of the salons and the high ceilinged kitchen show off the candles, fabrics and salvaged stage pieces that shine in restored rooms.
The Chateau offers 4 bedrooms, all with ensuites with bath tubs, a spacious kitchen dining room and two sitting rooms. The chateau sits in 4 acres of land and the garden has a trampoline, outdoor eating area and temporary above ground swimming pool whilst the permanent one is being built which is scheduled to be completed in the Spring.
The Chateau is available to hire for parties of up to 10 for weekends or full weeks any time of year with a complimentary bottle of Champagne with every week booking. For couples or smaller parties, part of the house is also available on a bed and breakfast basis with all rooms ensuite and weekend bookings or booking of 3 days or more with a complimentary bottle of wine.

"Absolutely stunning, so peaceful and beautiful."
I stayed at Chateau de Cravial for 4 nights with my partner on a bed a breakfast basis. We had a fresh continental breakfast and orange juice every morning without fail looking out onto the acres of land there is surrounding the area. On arrival, we were warmly greeted by Linda, the owner of the chateau, and her son, Bo. We were shown to our tower room which was spectacular, it had its own on-suite and was so welcoming and clean, we also had a bottle of wine and some fresh flowers on the bedside too. During the day times, we spent our time in the temporary swimming pool whilst the other one is soon to be ready, we walked around the many acres of land that surrounds the chateau and we also strolled down to the woods at the bottom of the fields and along the beautiful stream that runs through the countryside.
The chateau is a beautiful and original building that I would recommend to anyone who wants some peace and tranquility, at night we star gazed for hours which isn't something that you can do often back in England! Thank you so much to Linda and Bo for making the stay a real pleasure and we will definitely be seeing you again.
