About the home

This stunning, luxurious, state of the art, high-tech three bedroom apartment is minutes away from the best beach in the Baltic region. Located in the heart of the 17th century old town, and cocooned in a former Soviet building, where contemporary, state of the art living, is juxtaposed against Russian nostalgia.

The interior of the property has been created to a very high international standard with items from exclusive brands. Lighting is easily dimmed with the press of a remote control, promoting relaxation whilst watching home cinema 65"(165cm) Full High Definition TV. Extensive library of music and Blu-ray movies, also 3-D movies, exclusive Arcam high-fi and Eclipse -TD surround sound audio system provides a cinematic experience.

The Villeroy & Bosch Aquagate steam cabin and shower features programmable music, shower selections and lighting scenarios. All three bedrooms have cable TV,DVD players and superior audio iPod players. To see more images please click on the link at the bottom to go to the website.

The apartment was created with the input of one of Latvia's most prominent architects, Gundars Viksna. No expense has been spared in creating a stunning, interior designed, living experience by the owners.

After a day out exploring the beautiful old town of Liepaja, wind down on the white Italian leather couches and rest your crystal glasses on exclusive Frank B&B Italia coffee tables, designed by Antonio Citterio. Relax listening to a broad selection of CDs or select from a wide range of Blu-ray discs for the Full HD TV, including 3D Blu-ray movies. Sit at Ligne Roset desk (designed by Christian Werner) and chair to check e-mails on the Apple Mac. Make your own espresso coffee and sip out of exclusive, Italian Alessi coffee cups. A functional island dominates the kitchen and doubles as an informal eating space, or serve cocktails at night sitting on Boss, Cattelano Italia, bar stools.

A more formal dining experience can be enjoyed by sitting around the marble and glass table, on creme woven fabric dining chairs.

The Aquagate shower/Steam cabin provides different selections of showers, including rain shower and different colors to shower under whilst listening to music in the cabin. Enjoy a blissful night's sleep in 430 thread count exclusive Pima cotton sheets.

The property is cleaned twice a week. A house keeper is available for each day, if preferred at extra cost.

The apartment is situated in the old town, across from the busy, lively canal and yacht harbour. At the end of the street (an 8 minute walk) is the pristine, acccredited Blue Flag beach.

The apartment is on the first floor in a building which is of Soviet construction, typical of the 60s style, four storeys high. The external fabric and common parts are of typical condition to be found in buildings in the Baltic States.

The old town has many wonderful restaurants on the door step with international standard cuisine at extremely reasonable prices. Live music every night of the week encourages people to dance the night away.

One can spend hours sitting by the canal across the road sipping on cocktails or having a coffee, watching the yachts sail into the harbour during summer. During winter watch the fishermen on the frozen canal, fishing by magical candle light!

In summer the daytime focus tends to be on the water, although there are two gyms nearby and tennis courts by the beach.

The Kurzeme region

The population of Liepaja region is 140 000 and makes up almost half of all Kurzeme region, which is located in the west of Latvia on the Baltic coast. It is a thriving area and benefits from a low tax environment. The main industries include metal processing, textile, food, paper production and ship building. The port in Liepaja is ice free which facilitates transportation between the west and east, including Russia.

The area has four distinctive seasons with Summer during the months of June, July and August and the colder season is during December, January and February.

The Liepaja area

Liepaja city has a population of 87,000 and has a history dating back to the 13th Century. Walk around and view the largest collection of still erected wooden buildings. Visit the Museum (interior is of special architectural interest) and art galleries.

The streets are full of floral displays. Enjoy taking a tram ride in the old town. Browse the local market for crafts. Go on a walking guided tour of the old town. Visit nearby Karosta prison, which is a former military base.

Visit the Russian Orthodox Church and climb up the tower of Holy Trinity Church to view panoramic vistas over the old town. June: Jaunie Festival (longest day, 5 day holiday. July sees the Liepaja Beach party and the Kurzeme Car Rally is in August.

The town continuously hosts classical and rock music festivals, in particular July Beach Party and August the Kurzeme Rally, Liepaja. The local theatre has events throughout the entire year. There are many nightclubs and restaurants in the town.

Visit a beauty salon to be pampered, whilst not spending a fortune! Tennis courts for hire are next to the beach. The wide beach area is made up of the whitest fine sand in the Baltics. Lots of water activities available. The water from the Baltic is relatively shallow and therefore very warm in which to swim. Summers in Liepaja are stunning - blue skies and temperatures from 20 - 28 degrees, sunset at 11pm!

Liepaja is an ideal location to stay, if you are exploring the Baltic States and the stunning Baltic Coast, including Lithuania and Estonia. Liepaja is in the middle of the two States on the Baltic coast.

Autumn is special and Winter can be magical - one can watch the fisherman on the frozen canal fishing, if the weather is cold enough. Skies are still blue and days fine.

Liepaja is located 200km to the west of Riga, on the Baltic coastline. FROM RIGA: Liepaja is accessible by car hire, train and by bus and also by mini bus from Riga. A chauffeur limousine service can be arrange to collect you from the airport and drive you to Liepaja.

AirBaltic flies to Riga from many European destinations, as well as Ryanair.

Palanga (Lithuania) airport is 66km from Liepaja. Flights from Moscow arrive at Palanga.

From the UK: Ryanair flies from Stansted to Riga, also Bristol to Riga.
AirBaltic - Gatwick to Riga.

I stayed in this luxury apartment with 3 friends for 1 week at the end of August 2009. It was an excellent place to stay and it is in the very heart of lovely Liepaja. The nice seaside park and the baltic coast are only a 10 minute walk away.

The property was very clean and well equipped. We were made very welcome on arrival and some food items were supplied to get us off to a good start.

There are plenty of good restaurants nearby. Our favourite was the Maja Restaurant. Kenneth Langan, Ireland
