Glymestone Cottage has been beautifully converted from two aged barns to provide spacious, comfortable accommodation and is decorated in a 'country meets contemporary' style. It is situated in an idyllic rural setting, with fantastic walks and countryside right on your doorstep.
The kitchen, with its vaulted ceiling and oak beams, houses a Belfast sink fitted into Fired Earth kitchen units. A dishwasher is, of course, provided for those who do not wish to spend too much time at the kitchen sink, as well as a microwave, washing machine and all the usual facilities required for a comfortable stay.
The bright sitting room is open plan to the kitchen and has a cosy wood burning stove for those cooler months (a basket of logs and kindling is provided), sofas to comfortably seat four, a 32" freeview TV with Blue-ray DVD player and free wi-fi. A CD player & radio, with iPod docking, is also available, as well as books, games and puzzles for guests to enjoy. A selection of children's toys can be provided depending on the ages of the children staying.
French doors open from the sitting room into a small walled garden with barbeque - perfect for relaxing after a pleasant days sightseeing.
There are two spacious bedrooms. The master bedroom is on the first floor with a bright, sunny aspect and views across the fields. The downstairs bedroom is a cosy twin room which overlooks the garden.
The contemporary bathroom has a walk in shower, a small bath tub (especially for the children) and a large heated towel rail. Fresh, white towels are provided.
NEW for 2015 - we are having a tennis court built in the area behind Hoarstone Cottage . Ready at the end of March, this is an exciting new addition to our holiday cottages. Please note this is a shared court between us and both of the cottages and if you think you might fancy a game, please bring your own rackets and balls.
We also have a heated outdoor swimming pool for our guests to use. Beautifully warm (up to 28 degrees) and sheltered, our enclosed pool is a very short walk from the cottage. Please note the pool is opened only when the weather becomes warmer and this is totally at our discretion. The pool needs to be 'de-winterised' prior to use and whilst this is usually done at the beginning of May, dates are not exact and if your stay is during this time, please be aware that the pool may not be open so it is wise to check with us first.
We also have a heated outdoor swimming pool for our guests to use. Beautifully warm (up to 28 degrees) and sheltered, our enclosed pool is within walking distance from the cottage. Whether you choose to do a spot of sunbathing on the loungers or take a dip in the pool, this fantastic pool gives you the perfect opportunity to relax. Please note the pool is opened only when the weather becomes warmer and this is at our discretion.
There is plenty of space for parking at the cottage, and bicycles can be securely stored in one of the barns when not in use.
Glymestone Cottage is located at Stone Farm - an 86 acre small holding located in the beautiful Glyme Valley, just three miles from the Cotswold market town of Chipping Norton. It is the perfect place from which to enjoy all the countryside has to offer with a wealth of walks, cycle routes, bridleways and wildlife right on your doorstep. Yet it is within easy reach of plenty of interesting towns, such as Burford, Woodstock, Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold, to enable you to enjoy a fantastic Cotswold holiday.
Children will love exploring the surrounding countryside - there is plenty of space for them to roam around and play. Dogs will love the abundance of walks just outside your door (Stone Farm is located on both the Shakespeare and Wychwood Way). And couples will find this the perfect rural retreat.
Glymestone Cottage is one of two cottages located at Stone Farm. Whilst it sleeps four, if you have a larger group or wanted to holiday with another family in the same location, our sister cottage - Hoarstone - sleeps a further four people. The cottages are close enough to each other to be able to do so, yet far enough apart to guarantee your privacy. Please see the advert for Hoarstone Cottage within this website for further details.
Children are very welcome at Glymestone Cottage. We can provide a highchair, stairgate, travel cot and cot linen if required.
Dogs are also welcome - well behaved only please and max. two per cottage. £20 per dog per booking.

The Cotswolds region
The lovely rolling hills of the Cotswolds surround some of the prettiest villages and towns in England, where history and architectural features abound. Historical houses, museums, wonderful gardens, famous restaurants and many family attractions make this a fantastic and fun place to visit at any time of the year.
An extensive network of walks and cycle routes, fishing, riding and golf are just some of the many activities to be enjoyed both locally and further afield.
With so many wonderful, picturesque places to visit, antique shops to browse and tea/coffee shops in which to enjoy a few minutes respite, there is so much to do, one visit is never enough!
The local town of Chipping Norton provides all your essentials: supermarkets, banks, post office, leisure centre and garage, as well as coffee shops, cafes, pubs and independent retailers.
The most visited town in the country - Burford - is just a 20 minute drive away, with its glorious collection of antique shops, cosy pubs, 'country' shops and nic-nac shops, not to mention the infamous Burford Garden Centre!
The larger cities of Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick and Cheltenham are all less than an hour away. London can be reached easily in just over an hour – just catch the train from Charlbury station (5 miles away).
A stay at Stone Farm will provide you with the perfect base for travelling to the Cornbury Festival, The Riverside Festival, Wilderness, Bleinham Horse Trials, The Big Feastival and The Heythrop Hunt.

"Wonderful stay in the Cotswolds"
We stayed in Nicky's beautiful cottage for 3 nights and I can honestly say it was one of the nicest holiday cottages we have ever rented! Beautifully decorated, well positioned, super clean, and very friendly owners. Not the largest outdoor space, but with the Cotswolds on your door step, you dont really need a big garden.

"Beautiful, quiet, chic, immaculate, great location cottage."
A fabulous Easter break for both of us, even though temps at 0 and snow on the ground.
It's so easy to get to all the cotswolds villages, and lots of cute things to do in them. Independant stores, and beautiful tea rooms. Villages themselves are just delightful. Like you've stepped back in time.
Cottage was so beautiful and clean and snuggley. We made full use of the log fire. Lovely. We found everything we needed was to hand. Nice little touches like blanket throws on both sofas in the longe, an enlarging mirror in the bathroom, shoe rack by door.
It's a lovely large cottage and only 2 other properties that are close by. One is another rental cottage and we didn't even see it or the people staying there, and the other is the owners Nick and Nicky, who are close for any questions or problems but otherwise you would never see them due to entry and exit of both properties. Trust me we would never stay with owners next door. Have done it once before and were a little concerned, but no need. Didn't even see N&N until the 2nd day, when we needed them. They are so kind and friendly and will help with anything you need, without being intrusive.
We slept great, beds great. Towels fluffly. Cushions in lounge are feather & very comfy as are sofas.
10mins on a straight road is the Red Lion. We have stayed there and eaten there a couple of times before so were delighted to return. Gastro Pub food. Locally sourced, log fires, reasonable prices, great staff, fab wine by the glass. Also COCO is the resident brown lab and loved by all.
I know i'm supposed to list any points for improvement but they are so petty. The lane you have to use to get to the property is approx 200mtrs and very bumpy. It's just a track and the terrible weather made it awful, but Nick had done his best to fill in a lot of the holes to make it a little easier. Personally we would of liked liquid soap in the bathroom and not a vanity bar, just for hygenie reasons. Also the bath is very tiny, only good for children really. There were no dishwasher tablets which i'm sure was just an oversight. We just bought some from supermarket. We would also of liked feather pillows. These things would of been inkeeping with the high quality overall of the property. As i said very small things.
We have been to the Cotswolds on a couple of occasions and stiill have things to do there and we would DEFINATLEY 100% stay here again. That's high praise indeed as we are so fussy and everything has to be to a high standard and perfect for us.
So if you are just trying to decide between 2 /3 /4 different cottages, this is the one to go for. You won't be dissapointed at all. Happy Holidays :-)
Thank you for your kind review ladies, we would love to see you again. NEWSFLASH! New tarmac drive being laid on Monday 29th April so no more bumps and potholes - hooray!
