Crossing the main ancient door of the palace means “jump back” in the past: on your left you find one of the two entrances of the charming apartment “I Templari”. Just from the local sandstone portal of this door there is one of the several signs showing this building has a magnificent medieval history, in fact you can notice on its surface, three knight templar crosses.
This door has access to a small hall with complete large shower/WC and right ahead onto the double bedroom. The second entrance leads you into the living room that boasts an ancient open fireplace and a local sandstone stove.
Straight on, you enter into the country-style kitchen. In front of you, in the corner, there is an old wood oven for oven-baked pizza party, instead the well equipped kitchen with electric oven, 5 rings stove, basin and dishwasher allows you to cook for the people who love. There is also an ancient local sandstone basin that still works. This part of the house may be considered together with the living room the ex-original kitchen of the whole Palazzo del Duca.
From the kitchen, through an open arch you have access into another room with a chair-bed that is the walk-in closet of the double bedroom. However, if necessary, it can be used as children bedroom. The apartment has all over vault ceilings that make the atmosphere very warm.
A second large bedroom is located on the opposite side of the official entrance of the apartment. This bedroom (35 sqm) with en-suite bathroom has its own entrance from the medieval borgo through two main doors, one ancient beautiful wood door and one wrought iron door with glass panels to provide safety while allowing maximum light to come in. For friends or families looking for learning more about Tuscany history.
Further details outdoors:
A 4x8 in ground swimming pool has been recently built in the internal garden. The garden is fenced in order to provide security and no dangers for children.
The Tuscany / Massa Carrara Province region

Tiny hilltop towns, sun-drenched hillsides, a rolling countryside and enchanting little hamlets hidden along ancient streets and pathways, Tuscany is an adventure into the past of castles, fortresses, walled towns, ancient olive groves and vineyards and traditions that are honoured from generation to generation.
Fashion, cars, design, good food and wine, amazing art, mild weather and beautiful landscapes. When one travels the world it is easy to see the influence Italian lifestyle has on modern cities. Breakfast with a cappuccino or (to the horror of many Italians-cappuccino after dinner!), scooters, pasta or a tomato and mozzarella panino for lunch; wood-fired pizzas and even olive oil tasting events. All of these are attempts to recreate a part of Italian life in a different context - a more than ample indication of how appealing this lifestyle is to a diverse range of people.
The Licciana Nardi / Tavernelle, Tuscany area
Tuscany is everybody's favourite travel destinaton, and the Lunigiana is the part of Tuscany that's undiscovered.
Lunigiana is the part of Tuscany that links up with the Gulf of Poets and Liguria to the west and Emilia-Romagna, gastronomic heart of Italy, to the north. Whilst it is dominated by the Apuan Alps (from which Michelangelo insisted that his marble had to come) and the Appennines (made famous by Eric Newby in his book 'Love and War in the Appennines'), it has beautiful sandy beaches on its coast at places such as Marinella and Marina di Massa. It truly does have mountains, rock pools, sun and sea.
Lunigiana is a small homogenous region that offers a mild climate and a sweet atmosphere, perfect for resting and holidays. The millennial story of its history are visible, from the mysterious “statue stele” to the roman ruins, from old churches and medieval castles to the baroque palaces.
Lunigiana has been untouched by the damages of rampant industrialization and urbanization and even today, the environment has preserved the rural and pristine character of yesteryear: life in this charming countryside moves at an old-fashioned pace marked by sheer peace and quiet.
This lifestyle is influenced not only by the environment but also by the area?s wonderful location neither isolated nor remote. Not even the highway running along its border and Sunday tourists taking this thoroughfare to head to the coasts toward the valley have altered this unique environment. A magical holiday in harmony with nature!
