Monte Castello is set in the most amazing Tuscan scenery. We four adults and two teenagers found 5 star luxury incorporated with real Italian history. The house has been amazingly restored with plenty of room for everyone. The coolness of the house out of the summer heat if you need it but to be sat around the pool with only goat bells clinking is a wonderful destress from a busy lifestyle. The terrace of an evening overlooking the lit pool chatting and drinking the wonderful wines on offer from the village of Tavernelle. La Torre is an breathtaking restaurant set in the mountain scenery and the food is amazing. Being not far from the coast Cinque Le Terre is a must you can catch the boat in Lerici and the seafood is some of the best on the coast.......A visit to Forte Di Marmi is a mixture of modern with old well worth a visit. I kid you not AMAZING is the only word for Monte Castello........

"Will not be forgotten, for all the right reasons."

I had the fortunate opportunity to visit this wonderful home with friends in February 2012.
The weather was cold and snowy but only made my stay more wonderful, we had log fires burning with lots of lovely food and drink and our stay was completely fabulous.
The couple that own this beautiful home have thought of everything a guest might require, the kitchen is full to the brim of every utensil you might have ever needed and the same thoughtful ideas extend to the bathrooms and bedrooms.
If you have the chance to stay here and meet the owners you should snap it up.
Loved it.

"A dream holiday!"

I would highly recommend Montecastello to anyone who is looking for a memorable holiday! We visited this property for the second time. We have two young children and this holiday was perfect for us all! The property is restored and maintained to a fantastic standard with luxurious touches to add that special away from home feel. It is spacious, comfortable and fitted with mod cons. The scenery and grounds are breathtaking. There are plenty of adventurous walks to be found as well as a wonderful restaurant close by! We enjoyed visiting the old village of Tavernelle and sampling local wine in the bar! The swimming pool at the house makes it perfect for children as well as adults. The proprietors live in a cottage set back from the main house and were extremely helpful! We found their help & advice to be invaluable throughout both our holidays! Our children now refer to Montecastello to be 'our Italy house'!!! We can't wait to return!!!!

"Beautiful house and surroundings which exceeded our expectations"

Having spent two holidays in succession at glorious Monte Castello with a party of six adults and two young children, we cannot recommend it highly enough. The house is extremely comfortable and provides everything you could want; the pool and its surrounds, which include a large shaded area, are very well maintained and enjoy fabulous views over chestnut tree-covered hills to the magnificent mountains beyond; the night skies are wondrous(!); there is a fabulous place to eat-out nearby, and the little village, Tavernelle (one bar!) is in easy walking distance. If you are looking for a peaceful, away-from-it-all holiday with all mod-cons,we thoroughly recommend Monte Castello - and its attentive owners!.

Montecastello is sumptuously decorated, really 5 star but better. We were a group of 8 and the house has so many indoor and outdoor spaces that we all had space to mull together or simply chill out q… More
