The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Gironde region
This area is first of all a vineyard area: Bordeaux, Fronsac, Pomerol, Saint Emilion, Graves de Vayres etc. But also the Dune du Pyla, the highest dune in Europe, a wonderful place to visit.
The Mascaret, a wave coming from the sea along the river Dordogne, that surfers love to surf.
Dordogne is only 1hour far from here. Bordeaux is 25km, and a very nice town to visit.
Libourne area
Libourne is a very shopping town, with her big market on the main place of the town, 3 days a week. You can find good local products, fruits, vegetables and local specialities: foie gras, wine, oysters, lamprey and shad, ceps...
Libourne is a "bastide" port. The Bastide of Libourne is host to a market three times per week, on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday mornings in the central square which is ringed by stall covers. Highly appreciated by the inhabitants of Bordeaux especially, the Sunday market remains the biggest and most lively.
The following fairs are held during the year: -Palm Sunday fair held in spring when farmers traditionally brought their live-stock for sale -Saint Martin's fair in November -The floral fair in April
