Northern England region

The Yorkshire Dales is home to over 1,500 square kilometres of the renowned Yorkshire Dales National Park, which is characterised by its unspoilt Dales villages, patchwork of dry stone walls and stunning fells and dales countryside. Visitors are able to travel for miles along quiet country roads, surrounded by magnificent views in every direction; an area dotted with ancient farming communities and rural villages which is typical of this region. This area is perfect for a truly relaxing holiday away from all the stresses and strains of day to day life, where you rediscover a gentler pace of life. It's also great for enjoying a whole host of outdoor pursuits including some of the very best walks in the UK.

Town Hall Cottage is located in the peaceful Wensleydale village of Redmire at the end of the heritage Wensleydale Railway and close to the popular market town of Leyburn, the main centre of mid-Wensleydale and the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. Boasting an excellent range of shops, restaurants, cafes and weekly markets, those staying in the town will not be short of something to do in and around the surrounding area. Situated within Wensleydale, Leyburn also acts as a fantastic base for those wishing to explore the dale and its sights and attractions in more detail. Forming part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, those with a passion for the outdoors will be pleased with the number of walking and cycling opportunities in the area, and the famous Wensleydale Cheese centre is also well worth a visit. Other popular destinations include the quaint market town of Hawes, the Aysgarth Falls, Middleham and West Burton. These areas can also be explored via the Heritage Wensleydale steam and diesel railway, which runs along the eastern side of the dale
