The Yorkshire Dales is home to over 1,500 square kilometres of the renowned Yorkshire Dales National Park, which is characterised by its unspoilt Dales villages, patchwork of dry stone walls and stunning fells and dales countryside. Visitors are able to travel for miles along quiet country roads, surrounded by magnificent views in every direction; an area dotted with ancient farming communities and rural villages which is typical of this region. This area is perfect for a truly relaxing holiday away from all the stresses and strains of day to day life, where you rediscover a gentler pace of life. It's also great for enjoying a whole host of outdoor pursuits including some of the very best walks in the UK.
Lynburn lies close to the centre of the tiny village of Askrigg, Wensleydale. A former market town, Askrigg is often remembered due to its appearance in the BBC TV series ‘All Creatures Great and Small' as the fictional village of Darrowby, and enjoys a peaceful setting in a valley between two moors. The village also boasts a selection of pubs, a village store and a wonderful delicatessen and bakery selling an interesting selection of foods and takeaway meals. Askrigg is also ideally situated for exploring the rest of Wensleydale and its neighbouring dales, including the many wonderful towns and villages which rest within them. For example, Askrigg lies close to the bustling market town of Hawes and the picturesque market town of Leyburn, both of which boast exciting weekly markets, unique shops, pubs and cafes for the visitors to sample. The area is also a real hit with walking and cycling enthusiasts alike, with a number of opportunities available for exploring Wensleydale on foot or on two wheels. Those who enjoy cheese may also like to take a visit to the famous Wensleydale Cheese Creamery, an exciting day out for the whole family!
