Welcome to Kirklea, our traditional nineteenth-century cottage in The Yorkshire Dales and the ideal holiday home from which to explore this beautiful area.

It's the perfect cottage for a staycation – everyone from families wanting to experience Yorkshire in an authentic setting to walkers who want to enjoy the spectacular scenery.

Unusually used to be the old Post Office in the village. It even still has 2 front doors – one for the cottage and one which used to be for the Post Office, and you can still see where the old safe and post box used to be!

As you would expect, it's full of typical Dales features, such as the dark wooden beams in the living room and a beautiful, working stone fireplace in the dining-room.

However the cottage also has all the modern amenities you could want, including a new, fully equipped kitchen. For entertainment there's Sky TV, DVD player, a music centre and a fully-stocked bookcase.

There are also two washrooms, both fitted with power showers (one with bath) – the downstairs one is perfect for when you come back from a long muddy walk!

Outside there's a nicely proportioned and fully enclosed garden with patio, which is ideal for barbecues in summer. Or simply sit and enjoy the stunning views along the Dale to the limestone cliffs of Nappa Scar. In particular, on a cloudless night the sky is spectacular and well worth the short drive to the top of Askrigg Common.

As Yorkshire and the Dales is perfect pet country, we welcome them wholeheartedly to the cottage! And there's an outside tap in case you need to wash any muddy paws. We do have to limit this to two pets though as that's probably all you can fit comfortably in the cottage.
