The Northern England / Yorkshire/Yorkshire Dales region
The Yorkshire Dales is home to over 1,500 square kilometres of the renowned Yorkshire Dales National Park, which is characterised by its unspoilt Dales villages, patchwork of dry stone walls and stunning fells and dales countryside.
Visitors are able to travel for miles along quiet country roads, surrounded by magnificent views in every direction; an area dotted with ancient farming communities and rural villages which is typical of this region.
This area is perfect for a truly relaxing holiday away from all the stresses and strains of day to day life, where you rediscover a gentler pace of life. It's also great for enjoying a whole host of outdoor pursuits including some of the very best walks in the UK.
The Leyburn area
Leyburn is known as the traditional centre for mid-Wensleydale and as such, is a great base to explore the Yorkshire Dales. It's a thriving market town and every Friday sees visitors flock to its stalls in the main square. Its' cobbled lanes and squares are home to a range of good shops and facilities, including its' own
cinema, a teapottery, an arts and antiques auction house and a range of craft workshops.
Surrounded by rolling hills and in close proximity to magnificent view points from the Shawl, it is linked across the river to its close neighbour, Middleham, by one of the first suspension bridges to be built in England. Middleham boasts the ruined remains of Middleham Castle, as well as a range of attractive teashops.
