When entering the large living room you see in front of you a bed and a sofa, which - when extended - becomes a double-bed.

On right side, entering, there is a complete furnished kitchen with large fridge, freezer, oven, mini-dishwasher and dining table.

On the opposite side two comfortable armchairs face the television set. A door takes you to a washing basin, and further to it, a following door opens in the bathroom with shower, bidet, hair-dryer.

Two kilometers before reaching Levanto, surrounded by hills covered by olive trees, you find Casella, the ancient “olive oil village” built by the local noble families, who lined their oil mills along a narrow stream of pure water. The car must be parked at the entrance of the village: you need to walk up for two hundreds meters through narrow medioeval steps and ssages, i.e. no way even to motorbikes and bikes. In front of a recently restored church, the reddish-orange building is the one you should reach.

Here, a young lady who loves Levanto has restored an ancient ruin dated 17th century; on top of an approximate 5 x 5 meters surface, her landlord lodging (“the Dolphin”)elevates up along a first, second and third floor, while on ground floor she has furnished a large and romantic space (”the Anchovy”), ideal for a sweet tète-a-tète holiday.

Breath! Deeply breath! The essence of the near sea will come together to the one of the olive trees, and you will feel in peace.

About this location

The Italian Riviera region

The Cinque Terre is an interesting tourist destination on Italy's coast, five villages between the sea and 18 km of rugged, terraced hillsides towering above. You can walk between the towns for spectacular views. The five towns are: Monterosso al Mare (the largest), Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. The Via dell'Amore, a walking path carved out of the rock, links the last two.

Five tiny coastal villages on the eastern ligurian riviera, between La Spezia and Genoa, are named Cinque Terre, which means "five lands". Hard to get to, due to its particular geographical position, the five villages have for a long time been left isolated from the world, uncontaminated in their wild nature.

If you are planning a trip to Italy, and you like the sea, the sun and the silence of a world outside time, you'll find an holiday in the Cinque Terre as an unforgettable experience.

How to reach the Cinque Terre

The five villages are about ten kilometers from La Spezia. The town of La Spezia is about halfway between Genoa and Pisa, along the railway line Genoa - Pisa - Rome. Traveling by car, take the A12 Genova - Livorno motorway. The nearest airports (only for national flights) are Genoa and Pisa.

CASELLA: It ' an old town in the valley -shaped polygonal place 106 meters above sea level, barely visible in the context of the whole panorama of the villas that surround Levanto , once inserted into the terziere di Ponente.

The antiquity of the core is documented in several reports . The population was about 75 people in the first half of '500 , 239 in 1607 and 153 in 1828.

Born almost certainly out of the ditch of the same name , which has operated for centuries the impellers of two mills already documented in the ' 700 for wheat, corn and chestnuts, the town has developed a hexagonal shape along the old mule track through the valley of Carbonetta , which embraces the steep narrow streets that intersect.

The only significant area of the town is within the widening on this street are the chapel of St. Mary Magdalene and some buildings , among which are the right of the chapel of a nineteenth century building and one on the left , eighteenth century , with plaster decorated with stripes marking and squaring of the windows.

Another building worthy of interest is to the right of the bridge to the vehicular road that leads to the highway . It is one of the mills , built partly over the old bridge that connected the box with the left bank of the ditch of the same name . Another rural building which features all structural components ( walls , openings and general structure ) eighteenth-century is located in the upper part of the core to the North- West .

Chapel of St. Joseph. Dating back to the seventeenth century , is documented from 1671.

With brightly painted in one color , the small sacred building overlooking the cobbled open space of the nucleus. In the upper part of the facade is an opening four-lobe and the gable belfry. A window to the right of the entrance door allows the view of the interior , and a rectangular apse semi-elliptical . To the left of the entrance door , bell'acquasantiera seventeenth-century white marble of Carrara. After all, the eighteenth-century altar decorated with stucco , behind which are the small wooden choir and a statue of the Madonna and Child , also in wood.

Between factor and Casella, under the street vehicular access to the motorway , you will find Villa Taddei , a beautiful building from the typical urban architectural forms , within which there is a small private chapel .
