House | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 7

The property is situated in the heart of Vrisa village in an olive green and traditional stone architectural area. Vrissa is set 51 km from the city of Mytilene and its history dates back to ancient years. It is a picturesque village with carved-stone houses and a beautiful square, along with folklore and great spiritual tradition.

?he village can provide you with whatever you possibly need: freshly-baked morning bread, a seven-day week mini market (12 hours per day) and many cafesserving traditional alcohol drinks and “meze” (small dishes of local cuisine).

Because Vrisa is like a medieval village is therefore a very quiet place with no traffic. The house was built in 1915 and has been fully renovated with the aim of keeping its traditional character. It is very rustic but comfortable.

The stone floors and the original walls, the ceilings and the wooden stairs have been recently restored. The house is a three-storey building. At the basement there is the bathroom and the kitchen. In the bathroom, which used to be the old cellar, there is a small bath tub, tiled with bricks and stone, while the kitchen is fully equipped, with a fridge, a freezer and electric stove and oven.

Wooden stairs drive you to the hall of the first floor which in turn leads you to a colorful living room with traditional wooden closets and a second room with a small dining table, a sofa and an antique stone-water basin. On the second floor the entrance hall ushers you to two separate bedrooms with double and single beds. All rooms are airy and sunny and have got closets.
The unique asset of the property, however, is its yard.

One semi-closed yard with a large dining table, a water basin, a traditional bricked wood oven and an auxiliary gas stove. The yard extends to a smaller one which has got an open shower, sofas and hammocks. The sense of privacy and tranquility is intensified and ensured as the yard is hedged by flowers and vines. The house is fully equipped with bed-linen and kitchen utensils along with some primary necessities, such as coffee, sugar, olive oil and spices. Of course you can be supplied with whatever you may need after you have been in contact with us.

Trekking and hiking guides are also available at your request. 300 m. from the property is the Natural History Museum
which hosts local fossils, rocks, plants and stuffed birds. The olive groves that surround the village not only
give the visitor the opportunity to hike and enjoy the nature but also to get to know historic monuments, such as the “Gateluzikos Paliopyrgos” and the remnants of the medieval settlements of Nigida.

The area is also one of the unique wetland habitats on the island. More than 100 species of birds have been recorded. For biologists and amateur observers and birdwatchers it seems to be as a live natural history museum. Observing is possible all year long, especially during spring that the bird attendance is higher.

The fauna and flora of the area are also rich and unique. Vrisa is also located within a distance of 2km from Vatera beach. Vatera's endless stretch of beach, lapped by the blue waters of the Aegean has been repeatedly awarded the blue flags of the EU for its crystal clear and unspoiled beach, where you can literally forget about time. At Vatera you can find plenty of restaurants, cafes and beach bars which by nighttime are turned into night clubs with music, dance and drinks.

Just 5 km. from Vrisa you can visit the Polichnitos Thermal Springs. Spa waters spout from numerous springs passing through primary and secondary volcanic porous rock. Water temperatures range between 67°C and 92°C (bath temperatures range between 40°C and 45°C in baths) enriched with natural radon irradiation in the range of 15 – 25 MACHE units and are considered to be of the warmest springs in Europe.

They are rich in sodium chloride and comparable to the Wiesbaden Thermal Springs in Germany. The baths and pools are housed in a series of low constructions on the right, built under tall eucalyptus trees. These are the old buildings, which have been operating for numerous years and are now renovated to fit modern needs and include both old and new water channels. The springs' free and steaming hot waters, as a result of thermophilic animalcules (algae) growing in it, on its way down gives the floor a beautiful red color.

The visitor can also explore other areas too, such as St. Fokas cape with its picturesque fishermen's port, its small church and its unique traditional restaurants.

The fact that Vrisa is situated in the centre of the island of Lesvos makes it easy to scout about other interesting parts of the island. During summer there is daily connection with Turkey (Ayvalik and Dikelli).
