The house shares a courtyard garden and the bbq facilities with the adjoining apartment (Le Petit Coquelicot which can be rented as a whole with the house for larger groups, see the link at the bottom of this page). There is however a large garden opposite the main house which is for sole use of the main house occupants.
There is a separate ski and boot storage area to the rear of the property with a heated boot warmer.
The internal stairs to the bedrooms in the main house are steep and it is advisable for parents to supervise children using them (a stairgate can be provided upon request).
There is plenty of free parking within the village itself and also St Martin de Belleville and Les Menuires also offers plenty of free parking directly across from the lifts.
The Rhone/French Alps region
The 3 Vallees ski area is the largest in the World with more than 600km of skiing. It has something for every level of skier from beginners to families to extensive off-piste for advanced skiers. The Belleville valley alone has 300km of skiing. St Martin de Belleville and St Jean de Belleville and the surrounding villages still retain all the character of traditional French village life and are steeped in history. The area is just as appealing during the summer months as in the winter with plenty to offer for everyone.
Les Trois Vallees
St Jean de Belleville is known locally as the doorway to the Belleville valley and offers the tranquility and beauty of a traditonal mountain village. The village church (St Jean-Baptiste Baroque Church) is one of the churches on the "Sentiers du Baroque" and is the oldest in the valley with a listed altar piece and is open to the general public. There are various walking itineraries starting from the village and maps can be obtained from the Mairies office in the village centre, walking trails are well maintained during the summer season (June - September). Nearby attractions during winter months include downhill skiing, cross country skiing, snow-shoeing, sledging (both Les Menuires and Val Thorens have dedicated sledging runs, Val Thorens boasts the longest dedicated sledging run in Europe at over 6km long), dog-sledding, Leisure and Spa facilities, Cinema's, ten pin bowling, varied bars and restaurants to suit all tastes.
During the summer months there is just as much to do and see, from walking, cycling/mountain biking, fishing (both river and lake), white water rafting, via ferrata, climbing, tree top adventures, summer skiing in Val Thorens, horse riding, golf (situated in Meribel or Courchevel), quad and motorbiking. Plus Les Menuires boasts an impressive children's activity programme, inlcuding archery, bouncy castles & trampolines, donkey rides, arts & craft sessions plus much more.
Why not try the 2 Michelin Star restaurant "La Bouitte" situated in St Marcel or for a truly spectacular setting try the "Le Chateau des Feissons" just past Moutiers (pre-bookings only) both open summer and winter serving spectacular food and wines. Or the L'Oxalys 1 Michelin Star restaurant in Val Thorens - the highest michelin starred restaurant in Europe.
Further information on all these activities/venues are supplied in detail in your welcome pack and we are more than happy to answer any questions you may have in advance of your arrival.

"Great value peaceful mountain village retreat"
My family and I (Group of 6 adults, 23 years and over) stayed at the chalet for one week. It is very modern and clean with well equipped kitchen, living room and bedrooms. All the beds are very comfortable and the living space was great to chill and have a few beers after skiing all day. The system Helen has in place works very well and if you do have any questions the black folder answers practically all of them! A very peaceful village to stay in if you want to relax after a long day skiing, always had a great nights sleep, Saint Martin is where you need to head for the local shop and delightful quaint restaurants and bars.
If you are experienced/ pretty decent skiers then getting a 3 vallees ski pass is the best option, you can drive to Saint Martin, park for free and hop on the gondola there ski all the way over to Val Thorens (about an hour) or over to Meribel and Corchavel (Less than an hour) and back again without having to deal with the treacherous road conditions that lead to Val Thorens and Meribel. I would definitely recommend and stay at Le Coquelicot again without a doubt. Helen was very helpful and responded to each of my e-mails within a few hours. Thanks again Helen!

"Beautiful chalet equipped for a nice stay"
We recently spent 3 nights at Le Coquelicot for a quick week-end getaway and final ski trip of the year. Our group (all adults) fit comfortably in the chalet and we found the layout very good for our group (living space downstairs, bedrooms and WCs upstairs). The kitchen was so well equipped that we ended up cancelling the dinner reservations we had in St-Martin-de-Belleville and cooked dinner at the chalet each of the nights we were there. As advertised, a car is essential as the village is a drive from the train station at Moutiers or the 3 vallées lifts, but it was very nice returning to the chalet each evening after a good day skiing and feeling the peace and quite. Helen was also very easy to work with -- overall, Le Coquelicot is worth recommending!

"A cosy mountain retreat after a great days skiing"
We stayed at Le Coqueilicot and Petit Coquelicot early Feb 2013 as a large family group of nine rangeing from 21years to 59 years and from novice to all-mountain skiers.
On arrival, the Chalet was spotlessly clean and everything ready..The kitchen is fully fitted and extremely well equipped. The bedrooms are all large, well decorated and have ample storage. The beds are comfortable with some having great views. The ensuite and family bathroom are also of a good size and well finished. The lounge/dining/kitchen area is great for chilling out over a bottle of red and reliving the days daring do or playing on the games console for the younger ones. The log burner lends a very cosy feel to the chalet.
The ski storage area is large but is too cold for ski boots.
There is a large supermarket at Moutiers which is good for a main shop and Les Menuires or St Martin have all you need to top up during the week.
St Martin and Val Thorens have good parking close to the lifts but Les Menuires can be a bit of walk from the car. We did need our snow chains on occasions to get back up to the village but we did have a lot of snow.
We would certainly recommend Le Coquelicot/Petit Coquelicot and hope to return ourselves soon.
Many thanks for your lovely review, its always good to hear that guests have enjoyed the property and the skiing. We plan to install a ski boot warmer for the coming winter so this should hopefully solve the cold boot problem. We'd love to see you again in the 3 Valleys if you do decide to return.

"Wonderful Christmas Holidays"
We stayed with 2 family's (7 persons) in the house. On arrival the christmas tree gave us a warm welkom. The house is very complete and the kitchen has everything in it that you can imagine. The bedrooms are very big and the beds are perfect, we slept very well.
The children (and also the parents!) Used the playstation, tv and dvd, and also Wi-fi was very appriciated . The groundfloor is not very big but there is enough space for everyone.
Also we had beautiful weather to ski. Only 1 day we had to stay home because it was to misty and it rained . We watched some movies and had a nice and relaxed day in the house. The next day it was again a beautiful day to ski.
We had a perfect holiday.
If we come back sometime we will surrly book Le Cocquelicot again.
Family Gielen and family Bouten from the Netherlands.

"Perfect base for Three Valleys Escapade"
Two families comprising 5 adults and 2 children enjoyed a wonderful skiing holiday at February half term 2012. Le Coquelicot is an excellent base to explore the Three Valleys ski domain from. We like space, comfort and independence and we got it all at this lovely property. This is the second year we have stayed here having enjoyed a fabulous week the same time last year. Preparing food was easy with the fridge, freezer, hob, and full sized oven at our disposal. Wifi was super fast and the children loved watching dvds after a hard days ski. Hot water never ran out, and the radiators provided excellent warmth to make for a cosy feel. It was easy to adjust the temperature as you needed to . Bedrooms are thoughtfully decorated which was pleasing. The house was beautifully clean and Helen and Duncan kind, generous and responsive landlords. If you want a super base and are happy to drive to St Martin or Les Menuires to start you ski day this is a fantastic choice of property to choose.

"beautiful, rustic chalet with wonderful views of the Savoie area!"
The chalet is lovely and well equipped. We are 2 families, in total of 9 and there was enough room for all of us. The bedrooms are exceptional and the 2 front bedrooms had the most amazing views of the alps - wonderful!! The chalet was lovely and warm. There are lots of books and DVD's, (if not too tired from all the skiing!!) Helen was really helpful and easy to contact.
A car is essential for St Jean de Bellville but St Martin de Belleville is only approx 8km away. The ski area is absolutely amazing, from beginners to advanced.
