The chalet is located in Orelle a little authentic village which links into Val Thorens and the 3 vallées ski arena to provide some of the best skiing and snowboarding in France, with hundreds of kilometres of pistes and off piste! The Orelle gondola lift takes you up to 2300m, then take another lift up to the top of Orelle at 3250m where you will experience some great views & superb skiing. Alternatively, take a different chair lift straight to the skiing in Val Thorens. It is possible to ski all day in Orelle/Val Thorens & the rest of the 3 Valleys without taking the same ski lift twice! A real winter paradise. Accredited 3*** French Tourist Board 2012.
In the summer and shoulder seasons, is a great base to explore the Maurienne valley. Summer activities include: marked graded walks from the chalet, cycling routes for all levels, climbing and the Via Ferrata nearby in Modane. The Tour de France passes over one of the Grand Cols near by - Col du Galibier, Col D'Iseran and others offering superb mountain scenery and excursion possibilities.
The chalet is very spacious and recently renovated to a high standard. It has a good sized fully equipped kitchen , a separate dining room with seating for up to 12 people, two lounges, 4 bedrooms,a balcony overlooking the alps,and a shared courtyard.
The chalet is ideal for families, couples and groups of friends who are looking for an individual property away from the crowds yet within easy reach of some the best skiing,cycling, walking and Via Ferrata in Europe.
There is a swimming pool, spa and sauna complex in the village.

The great advantage of the chalet is the space - a lounge plus a snug room keeps the children and parents happy. The separate dining room, spacious kitchen and 4 bedrooms work very well and particularly appeals to people looking for more space & charm than the typical ski resort appartment.

The Rhone / French Alps / Savoie region
Chaletski3v is in Savoie a department in the Rhone Alps area of France. It is slap bang in the middle of the French Alps and the scenery is stunning.
The climate is quite special because in the summer you have loads of sunshine yet a nice breeze and in the winter it is cold but the skiing is high and the sun always shines! more or less guaranteed skiing in the winter and lots to do in the warmer months with good road and train connections to visit other areas and further into Italy.
The Les Trois Vallees / Val Thorens area
The whole area is geared up to summer and winter activities for all levels and keeness. There are also daily markets in and around Orelle, La Redoutte de Marie Theresse a hidden fortress with walks across the canyon and 'Acrobranche'.
Lots of parcs and National Parcs, mountain walks, cheese and wine making, rafting, cycling and mountain lakes. Italy is 13 kilometers away via the Frejus Tunnel. Why not visit Turin, the Fiat factory, the market and historical buildings in the old town. The charming village of Bardonnechia in Italy and Suse are less than 30 minutes away.

We stayed at Chaletski for Christmas 2011. The chalet is very comfortable with all the necessary amenities. The drive down to the ski lift was very quick and the skiing excellent. We enjoyed being in the village and have already booked for New Year 2012. |

Stayed with family and friends in group of c 13 people. Everything worked wonderfully well. Chalet is in orelle, 5 mins drive from ski lift up towards val thorens. Good sized kitchen and dining room, couple of lounges for children to crash out in and enough sleeping space for all. Benefit of chalet is it is spacious and informal for large group. Orelle is small quiet village, ideal for children to wander safely post skiing. if you want to eat out there are various bars and restaurants c10 mins drive away, and there Is a complex with pool etc nearby. Ski lift takes c15 mins in cable car (never that busy and we were in half term week) then you are up in the3 valleys and can ski across to val thorens. There are other lower skis resorts in driving distance but there was all we wanted in the 3 valleys! Orelle will appeal to people who dont want the glitz ( or expense) of staying in val thorens. You can get up to val thorens in about an hours skiing. You just need to be organised on return times as if you miss the last lift down its either an overnight in val thorens or a very expensive taxi trip back! You do need a car though as the ski lift is too far to walk from the chalet.. Some of our group drove from uk, others flew across then picked up hire car. I have flown in to both Grenoble and chambery, both easy (chambery slightly closer) Another advantage for orelle for us is that it's not too high (the 5km long lift does the climbing) so we do not have to worry so much about snow driving conditions, albeit they seem very alert at keeping all the roads clear of snow anyway. Response: Yes, Orelle has its own great ski area which links easily into Val Thorens via the Rosael chair lift. You can ski all the way into Val Thorens (VT)village on blue/red runs or alternatively head over to the Cime de Caron or Peclet glacier for some more chalenging pistes! Depending on your level of skiing or snowboarding you can be drinking your first hot chocolate in VT very soon after arriving at the top of the Rosael chair! Keen skiers and snowboarders can continue onto Meribel and Courchevel from VT via the 3 vallees access lifts. A great place to ski and snowboard and a super chalet to stay in! |
