About the home

Being a Family Home, it is very well supplied in the kitchen, and is generally roomy and cosy with pictures, maps and interesting things around. Garage has a separate large area with benches, and storage for ski's and boots, and it is easy to change there before stepping out to the free and frequent shuttle bus. Underfloor heating in most rooms, and splendid fireplace, with logs included in the price. Great views from windows and balconies. Really charming village with lots of very friendly (and some surprisingly important) people living nearby.

We bought this chalet as we have 4 small kids who have to go to ski school every day, and in many parts of the station that seem much closer, the distance to the bus stop makes the whole trip much longer than the 10 minutes it takes for our kids to get to the ski school and the lifts.... so chalet Nikita is very practical for access to the slopes, and it's easy to go up in the evenings to walk, shop and eat as well. And to ski, we go to the fast lift at Meribel Village, which is just 4 mins away, and avoid all the bother of the main part of the station, which is often a bit crowded.

We bought the chalet for the skiing, but found that the summer in the alps is absolutely superb, so we always go up there in August to do all the amazing visits that the alps offers then. And there is loads for the kids to do as well. The village is very pleasant in the warmth, and there are flowers and butterflies everywhere.

Easy and indeed delightful run that brings you back to the village from Meribel central - whispering thru the trees past alpine barns and enjoying the silence. Easy to park nearby, although we do have a garage as well. Being right in the centre of the village, next to the communal bread oven, which they still use, and the washing trough, with the community noticeboards and the shuttle stop right by us, you get to say hello to all that pass by.
Access to the slopes is easy with the bus or your car, and we normally just shoot up to Meribel Village, which has a brand new chairlift that takes you up to a gentle area of slopes where you can spin off to Courchevel, or down to central Meribel very easily. There is also an excellent Boulangerie and a small supermarket there, as well as a good value restaurant and bar (Tim, the UK owner, is very welcoming). But it is very easy to stay on the shuttle and swoop up to the centre as well (max 10 mins from our chalet), and our kids use it to go to ski school and come back at lunch time to return again for session 2 in the afternoon.

BEDS - Upper floor has 2 delightful rooms with large Velux windows for star gazing (and up here, in the clean air, you can really see them all). One double bed (and cot) in larger room, and one bunkbed, really for kids, but adults have used them often enough, in the other, both by a shower room with wc and sink. Ground floor has a double bedroom with ensuite shower/wc/sink, and the middle room has a bunkbed for adults size, as well as a pullout bed, and the third room has 3 singles, with another ensuite shower/wc/sink.

The Rhone / French Alps / Savoie region

Savoie is the archetypal mountain environment, and a winter and summer playground for tourists and sports people.

The Les Trois Vallees / Meribel area

Even our American clients are amazed at the size of this skiing domain - the largest in the world after all. Every year we find new lifts or runs or both. And Meribel sits right in the middle of the whole thing, which means that it is easy to visit either side without worrying about how and when to get back later in the day. There is a wonderful ski back thru the trees and past summer barns in the snowy silence to Chandon, and the village itself is famous in the area for being the real authentic alpine village. Just down from Chandon is Les Allues with all its bars, shops etc, and just over from us is Meribel Village.

Geneva is under 2 hours away. Local town down in the valley is Moutiers, which has a very good train service from Paris and London. Lyon and Grenoble have airports. Good thing by car is that, unlike with say Val d'Isere et al, there is far less of a queue out on the saturday changeover...

“Everything it said on the tin” As a first time group expedition we were looking for a Chalet where we all could stay enjoying the fun of being in a group but still allowing for some privacy. Chalet Nikita provided all that we wanted and a home from home feeling. Tucked away just a short distance of the main road all facilities and ski runs were easy to access via the regular shuttle bus with our car remaining parked up for the whole of our weeks stay. An excellent chalet, good facilities and worth recommending Response: We have many reviews like this on our other websites, and the satisfaction that comes from such responses is only matched by the joy of being there ourselves - Nikita is our dream come true.
