About the home

Chalet Bartavelle is a charming private chalet run by owners, Jerry and Bettina Mant. We pride ourselves on offering gourmet food and exceptional service. It is our aim to make your holiday with us the most relaxing you have ever had by doing all the running around for you, so the only things you have to do is to ski and eat all the lovely food!

CUISINE
With an owner, who is a professional, ex west-end chef, it surely comes as no surprise that we consider good food to be of the utmost importance to your holiday experience. Jerry has been a chef for over 20 years, he emphasises the use of good fresh ingredients, to promote great flavours that complement each other. You can truly look forward to one of his superbly prepared meals.

Jerry is experienced in catering for all dietary requirements and prides himself on offering delicious imaginative dishes for all his guests, whether it is for children, vegetarians, celiacs, dairy free diets or any other special requirements.

THE CHALET
Our chalet has a warm, welcoming feel. Originally a barn, it was converted into a chalet in 1974 and was re-renovated in 2002 to a high standard giving it a blend of old charm and modern comforts. The chalet has a large living/dining room with a log fire and comfy chairs, in which to relax after a long day on the mountain. It comprises 3 double bedrooms a twin room, a twin bedded mezzanine and 3 bathrooms. The views from the living room, balcony and bedrooms are truly amazing, looking down over the valley and up at the mountains.

OUTSIDE
There is a blue run behind the chalet on which you can ski back (conditions permitting). We have a heated ski boot room with boot warmers, ideal for drying your boots and outdoor clothes and for storing skis and prams. For summer our chalet has a balcony on one side of the house and a large terrace with garden furniture and a bbq and beautiful views on the other. In summer the ski boot room is ideal for storing bikes, golf bags and prams.

THE SERVICE
To make your holiday as relaxed as possible we will be happy to help you organise your airport transfers, lift passes, ski/boarding hire and lessons, nanny and/or crèche services or anything else you may require during your holiday. Please also note that we offer a daily transfer to the main lifts in Meribel and a pick up in the afternoon, so you don’t have to lug your equipment around. To make your life easier, your hired skis and boards can be delivered and fitted at the chalet.

OTHER
The chalet sleeps up to 10 guests. Open winter and summer. No smoking.

Further details outdoors:
Ski back on on a blue run. We offer a daily transfer to the lifts and a pick up in the afternoon but you can also ski back to the chalet (conditions permitting) and there is an easy bus connection to the centre of town too.

The chalet has a balcony and a garden, both with wonderful views. In the summer you can enjoy lunch (as an optional extra) or afternoon tea outside.

The Rhone / French Alps / Savoie region

Chalet Bartavelle is located in the small hamlet of Le Cruet, close to Méribel, in the heart of the Three Valleys.

This area of the French Alps is ideal for skiing and snowboarding holidays. The Three Valleys, consisting of Méribel, Courchevel and Val Thorens, is the largest ski area in the world and it offers fantastic skiing and snowboarding facilities for all levels. The Three Valleys have over 600 kilometres of pistes and more than 200 ski lifts and you will find enough black, red, blue or green ski runs to satisfy you, whatever your need. For those seeking a powder challenge, there is endless off-piste skiing and snowboarding in Méribel too.

The Les Trois Vallees / Meribel area

Méribel boasts a wide range of activities other than skiing. There is a sports centre built for the 1992 Olympics with an ice-skating rink, heated swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, steam room and bowling alley. A Cinema, numerous shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs combine to make up the superior facilities of Méribel.

Le Cruet is a typically rustic French hamlet. The chalets in Le Cruet all have individual character, giving the hamlet a unique feel.

Le Cruet has the advantage of being only 5 minutes drive from lively Méribel, with its many activities and night life and being even closer to the small village of Les Allues, with its local shops and restaurants. Le Cruet itself is peaceful; the perfect place to relax and enjoy the amazing views.

In the mornings we will take you up to the lifts in Méribel and pick you up again in the afternoon. In good conditions it is possible to ski to the door. There is also a bus service, which runs between Meribel and le Cruet, in case you should want to come back early one day. Should you want to go out in Méribel after dinner, we will be happy to take you up there and make sure you have details of taxis to get back home again.

SUMMER
Summer in Méribel is something everyone should experience at least once. The scenery is beautiful, with numerous sporting activities for the energetic, such as walking, hiking, mountain biking, white-water rafting, parapenting, tennis, horse riding and much more.

If you like your holidays more relaxed, why not come and just enjoy the beautiful surroundings and fill your days with gentle walks and lunches in Méribel, Les Allues or in our garden. You could also swim in in- or outdoor pools and perhaps take a daytrip to the historic and beautiful town of Annecy with its nearby lake.
For the golf enthusiast, there is the Méribel 18 hole golf course, described by Peter Allis, as one of the best golf courses in the Alps.

Why not come and stay with us in the beautiful hamlet of le Cruet, the perfect setting for unwinding in a proper French village. We will be happy to help you organise the holiday to suit you, whether you want to relax or fancy an action packed sporting holiday.

We offer a number of options to suit your needs. You can choose our fully catered option, where we will provide all your meals (excluding lunch), so there is no need to worry about shopping for breakfast or dinner or spend your energy cooking. Jerry will put together a delicious, light, summer menu for you and as an optional extra, he can prepare you a fantastic picnic, to take with you for your day’s activities, so you don't even have to worry about lunch. Alternatively you can choose self catered or bed and breakfast. On both of these options you can order a 3 course gourmet dinner with wine, giving at least 24 hours notice).

Prices are for the rental of the whole chalet sleeping up to 8 people and includes:

- 7 nights accommodation

- Breakfast and afternoon tea

- Pre-dinner drinks and canapés followed by a 3 course dinner with wine on 6 evenings

- Twice daily transfers to and from the lifts

(on our day off we will be happy to recommend and book a restaurant for you)

It is possible to sleep an extra 2 people in our mezzanine and for this we charge a small supplement of €350 per person per week for food and drink.

AVAILABILITY FOR SMALLER GROUPS

For certain off peak weeks we are now offering smaller parties the option of staying at Chalet Bartavelle with other groups. Our chalet sleps up to 10 people and is normally sold as a whole but for off peak weeks we are offering smaller groups the option of sharing our charming chalet with other groups, so if you are a couple or small group don't miss this opportunity to stay at our lovely chalet and enjoy the gourmet cooking. Please contact us for details.

SUMMER

Please note that the above summer rates are for 7 nights s/c accommodation in the top 2 floors of the chalet for up to 8 people and twice weekly cleaning. We also offer B&B and Half Board options, please enquire for price.
