Camping Le Chaponnet is a 4 star site, ideal for families with children. It boasts a large outdoor pool with slides , as well as a good indoor pool with childrens Jacuzzi.

There is a large children's play area, extra large bouncy castle, games room, table tennis, and tennis courts as well as a multi play arena. Good entertainment most days in July and August. The site is just a few minutes walk away from a large supermarket, shops, bars and cafes. The beautiful beaches are a good 20 minutes walk away, or 7 minutes by car with free parking. The site also run a free bus service in July and August to and from the beaches. This is a medium sized site in the heart of a very pretty French village, but only 15 -20 minutes drive from the very popular large resort of Les Sables d'Olonne.

This is a great area for cycling - the Vendee velo cycle route runs through this area with designated cycle paths, and being pretty flat this is a good way of seeing some of the surrounding countryside.

The site has a large bar overlooking the pools, and has a restaurant and a take away service. The pool area has recently been upgraded with new surface and colourful sun loungers.

Gas barbecues are allowed on individual plots, and these can be hired from our couriers on site.

The site is very popular with French, English, Irish and Dutch families. Because this is a medium sized site, and family orientated, it is not as rowdy and noisy as some of the bigger sites in the Vendee.

Our homes are modern 2 and 3 bedroomed cottage style homes, mostly with open or semi-covered verandas, and are located at the quieter end of the site on sandy emplacements.

All our homes have full sized cookers, microwaves and come with either large fridges or fridge freezers.

We also have a linen hire service for your convenience. Barbecues, cots and highchairs can be hired for a small fee.

English TV with freesat channels are also available for hire.

We do allow a well behaved pet in our homes.

We can also get a 20% discount off the cost of Britanny ferry travel for our customers.

Les Sables d'Olonne - is the largest seaside resort in the Vendee, and has superb beaches, shops, restaurants and bars, and good night-life. Also very well known for its sailing and maritime activities. A must to visit. Les Sables d'Olonne is about 15 minutes drive away from the site. Tip: Try to get there early in the day, as during high season, it can be very busy on the roads.

The Vendee area is also well known as having the most sunshine on the Western Coast of France.

Les Sables-d'Olonne

North of the site is the lovely town of St Gilles Croix de Vie - which has many fine seafood restaurants, bars cafes and shops. Good markets that often stay open until 11pm during the summer months.

Les Sables d'Olonne - The largest resort in the Vendee, it has a beautiful beach and promenade with a varied nightlife from discos to its casino, including many excellent restaurants. Visit the zoo on the outskirts of Les Sables. A 15-20 minute drive through the forest.

Island of Noirmoutier to the north of St Jean de Monts - offers lovely remote beaches and has a lovely island feel. It can be reached either by a bridge or at certain times of low tide by a causeway.

Les Dunes Parc d'Attractions, Brem-sur-mer - Lots of games and water slides that younger children will enjoy, especially the many small rides and attractions. A nice day out for the family, where there are picnic tables Approx 1km from the campsite - around 20 minutes walk..

Apremont - Half an hour's drive from the the large lake of Apremont with fine sandy beaches, slide, pedaloes, and boats for hire, good restaurant and picnic areas provides a nice day away from the beach, with the lake and chateau on offer.

Le Chateau des Aventuriers, Avrille - A great family day out, this is a castle for adventurerers where you'll discover pirates, dinosaurs, animals and lots of activities for all. About 30-40 minutes drive from the site.

Challans - This town holds a large medieval all day market with lots of stalls and arts and crafts, musicians, singers, where every one from children to adults are dressed in period costume. Not to be missed, these markets are held on 2 Thursdays in July and 2 Thursdays in August.

Puy du Fou - If you're feeling adventurous, why not visit the mediaeval theme park at Puy du Fou and go through a journey in time from the Roman gladiator games, the Viking attacks from the year 1000, fabulous birds of prey, jousting knights, re-living the atmosphere of the centuries right up to World War II. There is also a night time spectacular with over 100 actors. A full day visit highly recommended.
