About the home

Situated in the seaside town of Les Sables-d'Olonne on the west coast of France. This is a four-floor residence (with lift) is located in a residential quarter near the harbour and only 50 m from the main beach. Shops and the beach are both less than 100 m away.

The studio is approximately 25 m², you will find a living area with a double sofa-bed, an entrance room with two bunk beds separated from the living area by a door. There is also a small kitchen with hotplates, refrigerator, oven, dishwasher and electric coffee-maker and a bathroom with bath/shower and toilet. Furthermore there is a pay TV, pay phone, outside you will find a loggia with garden furniture.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Vendee region

The "Port Olona" yachting marina is the start and finish for the world famous round the world non-stop "Vendée Globe" race, dating back as from 1989.
There are two districts that must be seen: Ile de Penotte, a picturesque old quarter in the town centre with pedestrian alleys and façades decorated with shells by a local artist. Also, the Chaume quarter, where the city originated, is the fishermen’s district.
It is worth seeing: the Place Sainte Anne, a magnificent trompe-l’œil fresco as well. There are many monuments worth visiting, such as the "Halles Centrales", which now house the food market, Notre-Dame de Bon Port Church, and Saint Nicolas’ Priory, today a venue for meetings and cultural events.
A number of museums: "Musée de l’Abbaye de Sainte Croix" (collection of modern and contemporary French art), "Musée de la Mer" and the "Musée du Coquillage": unique of its kind in Europe, with its 35,000 tropical shells, corals and shellfish.
The "Jardin des Salines": from this protected site retracing the history of salt over the ages, you can watch wading birds nesting in the marshes.

The surrounding area
Sea excursions leaving from Fromentine (60 km): excursion to the Ile d’Yeu, on catamarans or trawlers.
"Musée de l’Automobile" in Talmont St Hilaire (8 km): 150 vehicles from 1885 to prototypes of the future.
Bird observatory on the Ile d’Olonne.
The Olonne sur Mer marsh formed long ago when the gulf silted up. Used for raising fish and oysters (over 4,500 hectares of earth strips and water), a veritable bird reserve.
