The Loire Valley / Maine-et-Loire region
Being in the micro climate of the Maine-et-Loire, one of the main chateau regions of France. Being 2kms from the local forest of Chambiers, which was frequented by Henri IV on his many visits to the splendid 15th century chateau of Durtal, 5kms. The gardens of the Chateau de Chambiers is open all summer to visitors. With easy access for the car enthusiats at Le Mans 35kms. with its informative motor museum, which is situated next to the 24hour racing track. The beautiful city of Angers , capital of the Anjou, is 30kms with the original Apocalypse tapestry, pretty shopping areas and outdoor restaurants. With many summer events and museums. Our nearest beaches are Pornic 110kms and the beautiful sandy beaches of La Baulle 160kms Saumur is 40kms which is famous for the"Cadre Noir" horses and its imposing hill top chateau which offers medieval events over the summer. This area is also very famous for its vineyards and the Champingny wine and the caves where the famous "paris" mushrooms are grown.
Les Rairies area
Les Rairies is well reknown for the local hand made terra cotta tiles, you can visit the workshop and museums. Being a small friendly village with all facilities including fresh bread, locally produced meat and a grocer. Having 2 bar/restaurants with al fresco eating in the summer. Post office & church. Being close to the Loir river, canoeing available locally as well as horse riding in the forest from the goats farm where the local cheese is produced. We are 15kms from La Fleche with all amenities including the Monnerie lake which offers small boat sailing, with beach and swimming areas. Also just opened is a bowling alley in the same complex. A local produce market is held here every Wednesday, the town has many small interesting shops and a large supermarket. La Fleche is known all over France as being one of the top military schools and also for its very spacious zoo, where the animals are very well cared for. A short car drive at Bauge is Holly Park, which is a children's theme park with pinic areas. Basically you can have a relaxing holiday or there is plenty to see and explore.
