The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur region
Long appreciated by most of the world and, of course, the French, the six Provençal departments offer a diversity of varied terrains and attractions. The Hautes-Alpes, as its name implies, is an alpine haven for a myriad of rare birds and flowers. Carpeted with wild flowers in summer, in winter the snow capped peaks become a playground for winter sports. The towns of Gap, with its botanical conservatory, Briançon, the highest town in Europe, and Queyras with its medieval fort, should not be missed. Natural gorges, spectacular waterfalls, and the largest man-made lake in Europe at Serre-Ponçon, attract climbers, potholers, bikers, and fishermen alike. Sandwiched between coast and mountains, the Alpes-de-Hautes-Provence has some spectacular sites on Napoleon's Route, including Sisteron, Manosque, the spa town of Digne-les-Bains and Forcalquier with the Route de la Lavande and the Domitian Way. Castellane is the gateway to the dramatic Gorges du Verdon. With 11 ski resorts, many lakes, rivers and reservoirs, the department has much to offer.
The Bouches du Rhone, with the white horses of the Camargue, black bulls and countless beautiful pink flamingos is steeped in history. Avignon is as much visited for its TGV link as for its famed ancient bridge. The region has inspired many artists. Cézanne was the most famous son of Aix en Provence whilst Van Gogh and Gauguin lived together for a while in Arles. Roman remains, elegant bastides and stone mas with pretty painted shutters cast their spell on visitors from all over the world. Marseilles with its Old Port and international airport is the largest city of the region. The famous vineyards of the Vaucluse, the picture post card villages of the Luberon and the fields of lavender and herbs have eternal appeal. Such famous films as 'Manon des Sources' and 'Jean de Florette' were set here.
The Var Region (in which Les Issambres sits) combines the unspoilt tranquillity of the villages and towns of the Haut Var with the glitz of the famous coastal resorts of St. Raphael, St. Maxime and St. Tropez. Beyond lies the naval base of Toulon and the Isles d'Hyères. Most towns have colourful bustling markets and there is a wealth of wonderful restaurants hidden away in unexpected corners of the countryside. In the Alpes-Maritimes, the Cote d'Azur continues to draw vast numbers as much for the well known watering holes lining the coast from Villefranche to Cap Ferrat, Cap d'Antibes to Cannes, venue of the annual international film festival, as for the ease of access to Monte Carlo with its jet-set, the ski resort nearby of Isola 2000, and Nice airport. Provence conjures up many images. The colourful market squares, the dappled sunlight through the plane trees, the pale golden beaches and azure sea together with the wonderful aroma of lavender, olive oil, garlic and rosemary combine to delight the senses.
Situated on the beautiful coastline of the Bay of St. Tropez, between the Mediterranean sea and the wooded hills of the Massif des Maures, lies the delightful village of Les Issambres. North of the Argens valley, it forms part of the commune de Roquebrune-sur-Argens and is located in the Esquieres valley which it shares with St. Maxime. Development along the coast began in the 1930s and includes the villages of St. Aygulf and Val d'Esquieres which to some extent mirror their more famous neighbour, Sainte Maxime, offering a tranquil and relaxing holiday destination. Amongst the more modern buildings, there are still many traditional white-washed pantiled Provence homes and interesting architecture within narrow winding streets throughout the town.
Clearly visible from the sea, there are many inlets (calanques) and rocky coves along this coast but Les Issambres has several fine sandy beaches (with no rocks!) stretching for 8 kilometres, making it an ideal resort for families. For those who love strolling beside the sea, there is a public walkway to St. Tropez.
The Port of Les Issambres
In the heart of the Gulf of Saint Tropez, the port of Les Issambres offers everything you might need for a seaside vacation with space in the marina for 440 boats in a safe and secure environment.
The harbour is alive with boats and visitors can take a ferry (Les Bateaux Verts) to nearby Sainte Maxime or St. Tropez. The sailing centre offers yacht rentals and a variety of water activities including diving and snorkelling which are available all year round.
There are also a selection of well appointed shops including a post office, bank, a butcher, pharmacy and a small supermarket. Every Thursday there is a fish market and local produce markets are held weekly too. A visit to the Tourist Office right in the centre of town will give you all the up to date information you need to explore the region. Tennis courts are also available with spectacular views from the Club.

"Ideal well appointed villa in a great location."
This is a very spacious villa in a great location. The rooms are large and plentiful with all the facilites I have at home.
The landscaped outside areas were fabulous with the swimming pool right in front of our room so we spent most of our time by the pool..
Everyday I was able to walk to the local village and take in the lively harbour area,
the center town and many shopping areas. Eating out is also easy with a good choice and extremely friendly locals. A great night was had at the local bar with live music provided.
The use of the wireless internet is extremely handy and the owner was very helpful and pleasant which made our holiday that bit brighter. St Tropez is a short trip by ferry and worth the visit but that is not the only attraction as there is a plethora of interesting places to see.
To sum up I would recommend this villa to all parties large or small..

"Rest and Relaxation"
Stayed at the villa and had a wonderful time. Weather was great so we were able to get down to the beach which is a 15 minute walk or 3 minutes in the car. The pool was really nice and the landscaping really good. There were some plots not developed on the development, but really had no impact on this Villa which enjoys views across the small valley.
The quality of the Villa is really good and with Satellite TV for the kids and having Alain accross the road so we could ask questions about anything was really helpful...All in all agreat holiday and would thoroughly reccomend

"A Beautiful villa, well equipped but slightly spoilt by its location"
This is a well equipped and relatively new villa in a gated community about 15 mins walk from the centre of Les Issambres. We had no problems with the facilities but were disappointed with the fact th… More
Thank you Richard. As our second guests your feedback has been very helpful. We have introduced an option for mid-stay cleaning for those that would like it and changed our Villa Management team.
It is true that there are some Villas lower in the development that have not yet been completed (our is in the upper half which is complete) and since your visit this lower area has been tidied up by the Development Company so that it does not detract from the view in any way.
I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay and hope you will visit again. Thank you again for your feedback
