A charming traditional Savoy style chalet in the mountain resort of Les Houches in the Chamonix Valley and at the foot of Mont Blanc. The chalet is owned and run by Oliver Ensor, an “International Mountain Leader” and his wife Elaine whose “table d'hôte' dinners and home made cakes are a legend.

The Chalet has a total of 7 rooms all with small private bathrooms. Prices quoted are for 2 guests occupying 1 of the chalets 7 rooms.

You will love the spectacular mountain views from the chalet. There is fantastic hiking and snowshoeing right on the doorstep. The chalet is just 8 minutes walk from the Chamonix - Les Houches ski slopes, the bus stop and the Les Houches main street. In winter you'll have free use of the Les Houches skating rink. All year round you'll have free use of the busses and trains throughout the Chamonix Valley. The Tour du Mont Blanc and GR5 trails are just a few minutes walk from the chalet. On booking ask about joining in on a snowshoe or hiking programme run by Chalet owner Oliver who is an international mountain leader.

PLEASE NOTE:

The chalet is catered. A self catering option is not possible. Payments for breakfast (8 Euros), table d'hôte dinner (16 Euros) and picnic lunch (6 Euros) can be made locally.

PLEASE NOTE ALSO: This is a mountain chalet and not a hotel. Please do not expect hotel style facilities. There are 7 tastefully decorated bedrooms all with private facilities which can be used as double, twin or single. But the bathrooms are mostly small and the bedrooms won't always be as big as some hotel rooms.

But you'll soon understand why a Daily Mirror journalist reviewed the chalet as 'our favourite stay' and why 80% of our guests are repeats. You'll love the relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Facilities include hot tub - sauna - wifi - computer for guest use - free phone calls to international land lines - message room (visiting physio can be arranged), drying room and ski room with work bench. The chalet claims to have the finest views from any hot tub in the universe! There is a lounge with comfortable leather arm chairs and a tea room with open fire where Elaine's famous cakes are served. Meals are served in the rustic dining room and when warm enough in summer on the outside terrace literally at the foot of Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in the European Alps.

"A great base for fantastic walking holiday"

Having stayed at Chalet Savoy for a Winter Activity week in February 2010, my wife and I were keen to return and managed to round up 13 members of our walking club (St Albans Rambler) to join us. The … More

"The perfect base for a walking holiday in the Mont Blanc region"

My third stay at Chalet Savoy, this time to walk in the hills and look at the Alpine flowers with Oliver as our fully qualified mountain guide. A relaxing place to stay with breath-taking views across to the Aiguille du Midi and the Mont Blanc range. The chalet is clean and comfortable with a big garden and a hot tub to relax in after a hard day in the mountains. Oliver and Elaine are the perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Excellent home cooking from Elaine and a wonderful cake waiting for us each day on our return from the hills. Oliver was very knowledgeable and tailored the walks to our abilities, starting either from the doorstep or using the air conditioned mini bus to travel further afield. The chalet is just a short walk away from the free bus and train service in the Chamonix valley. A wonderful location for exploring the area.

"A great holiday"

Our July holiday with a group of friends was excellent. We enjoy visiting the Chalet Savoy so much we are going back for our third visit in three years this February. Elaine, Oliver and Dylan (the dog) are splendid hosts. Oliver provides carefully planed itineraries based on the groups abilities - he is a very experienced guide, and ensures you make the most of the facilities in the area: whether you like cross-country skiing, downhill, shoe-shoeing, walking etc etc. Elaine's cooking is just what's needed after a hard day on the mountains and her cakes are a joy. If you want a great holiday, summer or winter, this is the place to go.

"Excellent stay at the lovely chalet Savoy"

This was my fourth visit to chalet Savoy and I will be coming back. It is a charming chalet in a beautiful location. The service is fantastic and it is very good value for money. The food is amazing as is the views. Rooms are comfortable and the hosts cannot do enough to ensure a fabulous trip. The wonderful cakes are just what is needed after a day out on the mountain and to relax in the hot tub taking in the beautiful scenery.
