Home description

The apartment is a duplex( on two floors), and is ideally situated in the old part of Les Gets,within 150 metres of the ESF ski school, close to all amenities, and yet in a quiet area. At a size of 64 square metres(plus a 26 square metre balcony), it is one of the larger apartments in the village. The balcony is ideal for sunbathing and entertaining throughout the year.

The key to being in Les Gets is to be right in the centre. Many renals offer properties that are well out of town and are problematic for access. Don' be fooled by these properties

In terms of location Le Grand Paradis is hard to beat, being right in the town centre with a 2 minute walk to the nearest ski lift and with the restaurants being right on the doorstep. Because of the location there is no need for long walks to amenities or the use of ski busses

In the winter it is a fantastic ski area - the largest linked ski area in the world.

In the summer, the area is a favourite for waklers and mountain bikers - with many of the ski-lifts opento give access to the mountains.

Overall it is a great year-round resort.

The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region

The French Alps is an area of great natural beauty with magnificent mountains and stunning lakes and plenty of fresh air and warm sun. Snow reliability is first class from December through to early May. In the summer it is an excellent outdoor persuits venue.

Access from Geneva takes only a short time (about an hour) and is very straight forward.

The area is the premier skiing area in France


Les Gets area

The Portes du Soleil ski area is a massive area with over 600km. of pistes, straddling the French and Swiss borders, incorporating towns such as Morzine and Avoriaz, as well as a series of smaller villages.

Les Gets is arguably the prettiest village in the Portes du Soleil, with all of the buildings being low rise and very traditional. The village has not changed much in the last 60 years and there is a strict policy to curb development.

The town is at the forefront of eco tourism. It has a sustainable development plan, which focuses on the provision of high quality rather than high quantity visits. It has management plans for the tight control of development, so as not to destroy the environment,plans for water management, the reduction of motor traffic in the town, and the operation of the lift systems using biofuels and solar energy.

The town is at 1172 metres altitude, and has an excellent snow record with good access into the whole of the Portes du Soleil ski area. It is a friendley town that is well served by some excellent restaurants(28) and bars(12), and even a small nightclub. It is a very relaxed town and attracts a lot of families of all nationalities. It is a firm favourite with the British.

The town is strongly favoured by families because the wide range of facilities, the wide range of skiing and the availability of good ski schools including BASS as well as ESF and several other high quality British instructors.

Other activities in the village in the winter include ice skating, cross country skiing, dog sledging, paragliding, hot air ballooning, snow mobiling and swimming. It is also served by some excellent shops.

In the summer the village is very active , and makes a fantastic holiday destination. Within easy reach there are a whole host of activities including mountain biking,walking,swimming, sunbathing around the lake, tree climbing and assault course,golf, horse riding, fishing, hot air ballooning and paragliding.


How to get there

Les Gets is easily available from Geneva airport. Many budget airlines including EasyJet and Jet2.com fly several times per day during the ski season from several UK airports.

Access from Geneva airport is easy and quick (about an hour)by either a resort transfer company or by hiring a car.

The apartment has 3 bedrooms (one double, one twin and a bunk -bedroom) and also has a double sofabed in the living room. It is being fully refurbished in late 2007 and so is in first class condition. The place has been newly painted both inside and out, and brand new kitchen is installed and there is a wealth of comfortable furnishings. In addition there are books,cds dvds and games for your use.

The balcony is a fantastic feature, being very large(26 square metres ), south- facing and is ideal for year round sunbathing and entertaining. It is a great place to wind down after a hard day in the mountains.

The costs quoted are purely for rental of the property. Flights,transfers,ski passes, ski and boot hire are all at your own cost.

Please note that skiing is by its nature, a dangerous sport, and we would recommend that you take out travel insurance that specifically covers the risks and costs associated with this.



Conditions

Bookable in weekly slots - Sunday to Sunday. Other periods may, however be accepted.

To confirm a reservation, a 25% payment of the rental price is required. If the customer cancels the holiday, this amount is non refundable. The balance of the rental has to be paid 6 weeks before the start of the holiday, along with a £150 security deposit.

If the monies are not received by the due date, then the holiday is deemed to have been cancelled.

The security deposit will be refunded immediately after the holiday, upon verification by the cleaning staff that the property has been left as it was found.
