Guestbook for La Maison Bleu
Date of Stay July – August 2011
My sister chose this part of France for us all to holiday in and we had no idea when we got there what a wonderful area it would be. There is just so much to do. The teenagers loved the canoeing, kayaking and climbing the younger children loved climbing in the hills, the forests, fishing, looking around caves (take a torch), and learing about cave men. We all loved exploring castles coffee shops and all of the markets in the area. There are night markets too for a pleasant evening by the river.
Nikki (the owner) was wonderful and absolutly nothing was too much trouble for her. She was readily available for assistance and also knows lots of great things to do for people of all ages in the locality.
The house is beautifully kept and very clean. We found it to be excellent value for money.
We had all of our meals in the garden ‘dining room’ (and made good use of the bbq) but there is another full sized table and plenty of chairs inside the house should you need it. The pool was just marvelous. The children started and ended each day in the pool (with a bit of a swim in between too!) they have become much stronger swimmers over the fortnight. I was pleased to see the fence all around the pool area. Nikki’s garden is really quite big and has a trampoline a little fortress and pirate ship too. There are plenty of garden games set up in the barn and a draw full of indoor games in the house too. I made a mistake bringing my sons scooter with me as the pavements in town and the roads were not appropriate for it, however this area seemed very popular with cyclists.
We had a delightful time staying here and would highly recommend it as a lovely holiday destination.

'Holiday in the Dordogne'
"We had an excellent 10 days here. The house was really spacious and beautifully decorated. The kids absolutely loved the garden. It is such an amazing space. They spent hours playing with the inflatables by the pool and had great fun making up games on the pirate ship. The games room was a real hit and the kids loved both the poole table and table football. Having the managers live nearby was really helpful for recommendations of places to eat and visit. Sarlat was stunning, caves were amazing and canoeing was really good fun. A really fantastic place to spend a family holiday."

'La Petite Maison is a gem'
To begin with when I first set eyes on this gorgeous house, my breath was taken away. The gardens and pool are equipped with everything you need during your stay, from relaxing sunbeds by the pool to loads of play equipment for the children. The house itself has every home comfort you could wish for snuggly beds, microwave and a lovely bottle of wine in the welcome pack to start your stay off. There is a barbecue and plenty of outdoor seating for evening entertaining and only a short walk away is the village centre with museums, wine caves and a choice of restaurants. We ate at 2 restaurants in the village, La Marie in the centre and the Moulin de beune with the water wheel. Excellent welcome and choice of food. There is also a market in the village each week. We visited the Font de Gaume caves which are a short walk from the house. We would definitely recommend this gite. You can tell by the layout and little added comforts that the owners really want you to enjoy their lovely home.

“Wonderful Family Holiday”
We stayed at the house for a week which isn’t long enough, the house is situated in lovely grounds which seem to go on for miles, the accommodation is
immaculate and spacious. We stayed with a group of friends in both houses but because of its size, never felt overcrowded . Its all set up for a family holiday
in the grounds there is a pirate ship which our little boy loved! a trampoline, wendy house and sandpit, not to mention the swimming pool and games room.
We ate at the house most nights sitting on the Patio at the back of the house which has a lovely feel. The property is really sociable and a better spot for
enjoying a bottle of wine with friends you would be hard pushed to find. Agree with previous reviewers the Marie in the village serves fantastic pizza’s and
is very family friendly.

“Everything I hoped for and More”
We stayed at La Maison Bleu in April. It was spotlessly clean and the owners had left a great welcome hamper. The house is
beautiful, Every door we opened gave us a real ‘wow’ factor. Great decor and finishing touched made a big difference. There is a good choice of restaurants
and shops in the village which is about a 10 min walk away. We rented a car at Bergerac airport which is a must if you really want to appreciate the
fabulous area.

Having spent 2 weeks with my family (6 adults & 2 small children) it is impossible to put into words how beautiful the property and it's location are.
With a pool, trampoline, swing ball & other games there's enough to keep any young ones happy with open land for them to run around to their hearts content. Les Ezyies is a picture postcode village with lovely restaurants & shops as well as so many local attractions. There's also fantastic markets within a short drive to visit on most days & the canoeing is a perfect way to explore the Dordogne. If your a cyclist then your in for a treat, I'll certainly take mine next time (although you can hire them too)!!
Can't wait to book our next trip!!

Our recent visit to La Maison Bleu was fantastic the house its self was much nicer than the pictures on the website indicated! We are a family of seven having five teenage children so space is so important to us , the house had more than enough space for my lot, adequately equipped and extremely clean on arrival !
On arrival we were greeted with a 'welcome pack' full of all the basics needed to see us through until the following day when we could visit the local supermarket for supplies, nice touch, even had supply of Vino !
Although we dined mainly at the house BBQ’s mostly we also enjoyed a couple of meals at two local restaurants in Les Eyzies! The 'Marie' had varied menu something for all the family very reasonably priced and the food was good, also the 'Moulin de Beaun' the food was to die for and the Soufflé 'the best’!
If you get bored of chilling and relaxing by the pool you can always visit some of the local historical sites, go canoeing or visit one of the many attractions all or most only 5-20mins away by car form the house!
We have already recommended friends take a visit and we are all looking forward to another visit soon excellent holiday for 2010 !

Lovely Holiday
I just wanted to say what a fantastic house and location we have had a brilliant fortnight in La Maison Bleu. It was one of the most relaxing holidays we have had for a long while, plenty to see and do and plenty of sunshine to relax by the pool.
I certainly would come again and recommend it to all my friends - family already know!
Thanks again for a fabulous holiday

"This is a very charming property in a very pretty village and an extraordinary region. The property is an old house renovated very cosy and with all amenities. Our daughter, and not only, was very happy with the pool and the courtyard.
The village is very well placed, near to many attractions like pre-historic caves that one should not miss (Font de Gaume- in front of the house, Combarelles- 2 kms), castles, etc. Also, doing canoing on Dordogne river is an experience that everybody will remember.
Good restaurants are in the centre of the village: we especially liked "Le vieux moulin" and "Cafe de la Mairie".
If you enjoy a peaceful place but full of charm and lots of things to do, than this is for sure a good choice.
Thank you for a very nice holiday."

Have just returned from a fantastic week in this stunning part of France. The gite was perfect - really spacious and everything that you would expect was provided. The children were in heaven with the trampoline, sand pit, swings, swimming pool (full of pool toys) and a huge garden to run around in, with a TV and DVD in the house for down time. The adults were kept happy too - with the stunning views, great pool, BBQ and not forgetting the fine wine! With loads of things to see and do in the area there is something for everyone. If you're going to this part of France for a holiday La Maison Blue is the perfect place to stay." Mrs C July 2010

This was the best place to be for a family holiday in France.
We had 11 people in the 2 houses including 4 children and we never felt like we were on top of each other. The setting is fabulous and enough outside and inside activites to keep everyone busy. It is well set up for kids of all ages with the trampoline, swing set and pool equipment. As well as games, TV and plenty of books for inside times.
We went into the village every day and to the local markets when they were on as well as visiting the local attractions. Font De Gaume, Lasceaux and the castles as well as canoeing and boating down the Dordogne.
I would recommend this to anyone thinking of holidaying in this area as it is just perfect!
