Home description
La Fermette is one of the 4 cottages in a medieval hamlet on a hilltop enclosed in thousands of acres of woods, hillsides and valleys, through which you can walk freely. No traffic, no neighbours, just absolute tranquility. There is a large enclosure where you may watch deer, geese, black swans and a variety of ducks. Unspoiled nature with more then thirty different orchids, numerous beautiful butterflies, red deer, roe deer, boars and badgers, foxes and martens...
The hamlet is made up of 4 cottages which share a 15x7m swimming pool. The hamlet can sleep up to 20 guests whereas La Fermette sleeps 7.
Although the hamlet is surrounded by wooded hillsides with no neighbors or passing traffic, it is still within close proximity (±10 km) of shops, restaurants, medical help, a post office, a bank in the villages of Saint-Cyprien or les Eyzies (see Further Details About Interior Facilities hereafter).

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region
The Dordogne, or the Périgord as it is known by the French, is one of the most beautiful regions in France. The Périgord Noir, which derives its name from the black truffles found here and its walnuts, is to be found in the triangle of Sarlat, Domme and Les Eyzies, cut through by the Dordogne and Vézère rivers. The Périgord Noir is a stunning mixture of prehistoric caves hidden in tree-covered valleys and medieval castles dating from the 100 years war. You cannot fail to be impressed by the number and variety of castles that there are to visit, as well as the multitude of cavemen dwellings and underground sites.
The Périgord Noir is also famous for its cuisine. You can expect some form of duck on every menu, either the famous duck or goose liver (foie gras) or “confit de canard” or the lighter “magret de canard”. You should try the truffles, whose farming grounds are kept a very close secret by the truffle hunters, and also the cèpes, a very tasty form of mushroom. And to accompany it all, wine from the nearby Bordeaux or Bergerac regions, preceded by a walnut wine to get the juices flowing. Don’t expect to go home lighter than when you set off…
Les Eyzies area
Les Eyzies : the World Centre of Prehistory... Les Eyzies lies at the heart of an unspoilt area of great natural beauty with rolling hills, tranquil rivers and fascinating cliff and rock formations. It has some of the world’s most beautiful caves with outstanding stalagtite and stalagmite cristallisations. And the cave-lined Vézère valley has been classified as a heritage site by UNESCO. Set in the heart of this well-preserved environment, Les Eyzies imbues vistors with a sense of harmony and well-being. Les Eyzies is known by the abundance of its archaeological wealths and its cliffs dug of numerous underground caves.
