The Swiss Alps with their sunny summer days give the possibilities to make long walks on easy ways as well as climbing to the top of Les Diablerets (3.240m). During the winter, the areas give many possibilities of skiing, to the glacier or to Villars.

The resort of les Diablerets is one of the oldest ones in Switzerland. It dates back to 1756, and from his very beginning has enjoyed strong links with Britain - during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries : it was a very well known destination for the english aristocracy.

The first hotel (300 rooms) in Les Diablerets was built in the eighteenth century specifically for English guests. Since then, the resort has become more cosmopolitan, attracting visitors from all over the world including such luminaries as Victor Hugo, Lenin, Napoleon III and Igor Stravinsky, not to mention present-day legends such as Clint Eastwood and Paul Newman. Today, Les Diablerets is still very popular with English hosts and there is a sizeable British community in the village.

Les Diablerets area

La Croisée is a very charming old family chalet from 1880 near the forest and only 5 minutes (or 40 min by foot) from the centre of the village of Les Diablerets, one of Switzerland's most famous ski resorts. Pure mountain air and brilliant sunshine.

Beautiful view of the mountains. The chalet is receiving up to a total of 8 people : renting the entire chalet or not ; can also be a host in B&B’s tradition. You may rent only one room, as a couple or a single. Prices includes a solid breakfast (home made jams, butter issued from the country woman nearby, fresh eggs, fresh fruit salad, home made bread, cheese from the mountain, yoghourts, even some more..) helping you starting a beautiful day ! A very warm welcome will wait for you from the owner and you are not going to forget it !

As far as skiing and other winter sports are concerned, Les Diablerets has something for everyone : slopes range from the family-friendly blue piste to the challenging Glacier 3000; cross-country skiing : 30km traditional tracks and 15km of nordic; a 7.2km sledge run which will make you shiver and shake ! also ‚‘bus des neiges" (pulled on skis behind a horse!).

Apart from the slopes, the village propose an indoor and outdoor swimming pools, outside tennis courts, 3 golf courses in the surrounding (max 15 km). On cultural side, there is the annual Classical Music Festival with top performers, which takes place between December and March ; during summer, there is another event well worth attending : the Mountain Film Festival www.fifad.ch.

Also ideal starting point for your sporting activities, hiking, golf or for discovering the beautiful region : within 20 minutes of Lake of Geneva, the Vaud Riviera, Lavaux (a UNESCO World Heritage site), Martigny and the Gianadda Foundation (painting), La Gruyère (cheese and chocolate) and ist well known castle.
