Les Palmes D'Or apartments are situated conveniently between the main gondola and the village. Les Contamines is a family friendly ski resort with 150kms of downhill pistes to suit all abilities. The apartment is directly opposite the main lift. There are 24 lifts in total, a snow park and half pipe for boarders and five circuits of cross country trails. The resort's snow record is much envied; the season lasts from December to April. Other winter sports include snow mobiles, dog sledding and ice-skating (there is a natural skating rink in the village).

Les Contamines is trully hidden gem. This charming village has one of the most enviable snowfall records. The north facing slopes are perfect for all abilities and most importantly the 125km of well maintained pistes remain quiet and uncrowded throughout the ski season. For snow boarders there is a snow park (championship level) and a half-pipe. Cross-country skiers are also well catered for. There are two nursery slopes in the village. The local ski pass is linked to the town of Hauteluce and there is also an “Evasion Mont Blanc” pass which covers another 420km of skiing in St Gervais, Megeve and Combloux. Other resorts to try are Chamonix, Les Houches, Argentiere and Courmayeur in Italy (30mins). Other winter activities in Les Contamines are, snowmobiles rides, dog sledding, snowshoeing and ice-skating. The ski school has plenty of English speaking instructors.
In Summer the resort converts to a walking and mountain bikers paradise where the die hards can walk up the mountain trails but for the less ambitious, you can get the gondola to the top of the Mountain and walk down a number of graded trails. Le Pontet Leisure Park (tel.:+ 33 4 50 47 05 89) stands in a magnificent setting around a mountain lake and a bathing lake: rowing boats, walks, cable cars, camping and caravanning, an overnight halt for hikers, riding centre, football, archery, mini-golf, golf practice, basketball, volleyball. There is also the chance to try rock climbing.

Drive to Les Contamine by Ferry or Tunnel from the UK or fly to Geneva, Grenoble or Turin and hire a car. Further details indoors: The apartment has a double bed and a bunk bed. There is a four plate hob and mini oven. Fridge with small freezer compartment and dishwasher. There is a pull out line in the bathroom for drying, a TV/DVD player in the lounge area and a Radio/CD player and an iPOD docking station.
Situated opposite the main gondola area, 5 min walk, Les Palmes D'Or is perfectly located for getting on the Mountain quickly. The Village is a 10 minute walk with a fine selection of Restaurants and bars and there are local shops in the Hameaux Du Lay area for essential provisions. There is also a ski rental shop in the hamlet as well as a selection of shops in the Village.
At the bottom of the Gondola there is bar which was refurbished for 2006/7 which is perfect for an after ski drink or snack. There is also Internet connection available within the Bar.
Further details outdoors: A car is not really necessary within the resort as everything is within walking distance but for trips to St Gervais or to other areas within the region, it is advisable.

Please note that there is now a mandatory cleaning charge which has been added to all bookings from 5th May 2009. This is included in the rental cost.
Linen hire is available at a rate of 18.00 per person, please note this is not per bed. The bedding is standard English Double and Single sizes on the bunk bed so you are welcome to bring your own bedding should you not wish to hire.
