Home description

Les Hauts de Landry is a newly converted school building adjacent to a beautiful ancient church on the hillside overlooking the unspoilt village of Landry in the French Alps. It is a perfect base for active family holidays in the winter or summer. There is easy access to the huge Paradiski area of La Plagne and Les Arcs for winter sports, and to vast mountain areas for walking in the summer amid spectacular scenery. Mountain bike tours, paragliding, rafting are available locally and the nearby plan d'eau provides a lakeside beach for relaxing bathing in the summer.

The apartment is a modern styled duplex at the top of the building with lovely mountain views and a wonderful feeling of light and space. A full size kitchen with ample equipment, comfortable easy chairs and sofa in the living area, separate dining area together with en-suites to both bedrooms provide real home from home comfort.
The outside communal patio area has the sun all day and provides seating and a barbecue.

The Rhone / French Alps / Savoie region

Set amongst the most fabulous scenery at the heart of the French Alps, Bourg St Maurice and the nearby village of Landry are perfectly situated to enjoy the all the drama and beauty that these mountains and valleys have to offer the active and discerning holiday maker. For local accessible meticulously maintained ski area you cannot beat the variety of the runs on and off piste of the massive Paradiski area of Les Arcs and La Plagne, all covered with one lift pass and joined together with the huge Vanois Express cable car. Chose to drive up the mountain to the pretty unspoilt village of Montchavin to start your day on on the slopes or drive along the valley to Bourg and take the funicular straight up to Les Arcs. Or if you feel the need, take a day trip to the Trois Vallees in one direction or to Val D'Isere/Tignes in the other.

In the summer the Vanoise National Park is on your doorstep for wonderful safe walking among the native wildlife. Or take a day trip over the spectacular St Bernard's Pass and have a casual pasta lunch in the Italian town of Courmayeur. Or within just over an hours drive you can be at Annecy, with it's breathtaking lake on which to take a boat trip and its beautiful old town to wander round and take coffee and lunch in its countless restaurants and bars,
We would describe this as an area to use and enjoy in the winter, and to relax and fall in love with in the summer!


Les Arcs / Bourg St Maurice area

Bourg is a lovely market town, with a pedestrianised centre and many traditional shops and restaurants. The Saturday market is a must for local produce. There are plenty of facilities for hiring equipment for winter and summer sports and a helpful tourist information office immediately opposite the railway station and next to the popular bar "Bazoom" - a favourite with the kids for its modern decor and menu and its internet facilities.

There are facilities for rafting and canoeing on the river Isere, parapenting from the mountains into Bourg, mountain biking tours of the area, or more gentle cycling or roller blading along the river side path all the way from Bourg to Aime. The Plan D'eau is located on the river between Landry and Aime (a 5 minute drive from the apartment) where there is a large beach around a lake, complete with beachstyle bar and ice cream cafe.

Les Arcs offers ideal slopes for the beginner with several options for ski schools/private lessons. If you are more advanced in your ski/snowboard skills there are countless challenging runs both on and off-piste. On the La Plagne side of the linked area there is again huge variety of skiing combined with the pretty traditional French villages of Montchavin and Montalbert which provide perfect lunch time or afterski beer time meeting places.
