Aiguille Grive 3, 515, Les Arc
About the home
Ski in ski out in this case means not even a lift! Just walk down the corridor and the lift is in front of you.
The apartment is on two floors. Hall has a loo and basin off to the left and then through to the living/dining room beside the galley kitchen. This is fully equipped with small oven, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and all cooking utensils. (You can borrow Raclette machines etc from local shops if you want to). The sofa becomes a single or double bed and the balcony offers typically stunning Les Arcs views of Mont Blanc, the Alps and surrounding forest.
Upstairs via a Japanese-style staircase. It has a full bathroom, two bunk beds at the top of the stairs, then through to the front room with two singles, plus another two singles: the room can be divided with a curtain if you so wish. The apartment is versatile and would suit a family with extra guests, or a party of friends. It’s in a quiet part of Les Arcs, ideal for small children, but close enough to shops and to the night life - the best of both worlds.
Aiguille Grive is a group of apartment blocks built in the distinctive Alpine modernist style of Les Arcs. Our apartment is less than 100 metres from the Charmettoger chairlift, allowing an easy start to the day and skiing back to the door. There is a bakery and pizzeria in the same building, and one of the ‘main streets’ of Arc 1800 is only 300 metres away, with a supermarket, restaurants and ski/snowboard equipment shops. Walking on through to the linked villages (Les Arcs is car-free), you reach Charvet, which has more shops, bars and eateries, and a cinema that shows English-language as well as French films.
Les Arcs is all about convenience and practicality. Lifts are easy to walk to and your can ski or snowboard right to our back door. Whatever the weather or your taste, you can always reach good snow by means of an amazing network of lifts. You can eat out, find delicious takeaways (such as tartiflette, on sale outside the Sherpa supermarket), or cook your own with great ingredients from the food shops. And did we mention those panoramic Alpine views, first thing in the morning and as the sun goes down after another exhilarating day?

The Rhone / French Alps / Savoie region

Bourg St Maurice is an authentic French town located in the heart of the French Alps, and central for several magnificent ski resorts including Les Arcs/Paradiski; Val d'Isere, Tignes,Ste Foy Tarentaise and La Rosiere.
The town has numerous and varied restaurants(including a Vietnamese and a Moroccan restaurant if you ever tire of French cooking;there are several really excellent local restaurants serving fine food and hearty local specialities including fondue;tartiflette;diots), along with bars and cafes and a good range of shopping on an attractive old pedestrianised street. There are delicatessens and butchers selling local and regional specialities, several boulangeries, clothes boutiques and plenty of ski/snowboard/bikehire shops; the Saturday market is a great place to stock up on the local winesand cheeses before you head home. There are also 3 supermarkets.
There is a friendly tourist information bureau opposite the train station; frequent valley buses and coaches leave from the station and can take you on to other local resorts if you want to explore further afield.
In summer, there are Baroque churches to visit in the Tarentaise valley, music, drama or sports festivals held in and round the town throughout July and August, and the area is renowned for mountaineering, mountain biking, cycling, parapenting, and water sports ,with the Isere river close by.
The Les Arcs / Arc 1800 area
Les Arcs is one of the first areas to be developed actually in the mountains. It is also where the revolutionary new system of teaching skiing was invented: Evolutif. As a ski resort the Paradiski (Les Arcs/La Plagne)is vast and we are surrounded by a number of other world famous ski resorts such as Ste Foy, La Rosiere and Val D'Isere/Tignes enabling you to ski different resorts during your stay.
Les Arcs is only a 15-20 min drive up the mountain from the town of Bourg St Maurice. We are close to all amenities such as supermarkets, swimming pool, banks and shops and golf courses.
The Tarentaise Valley is a beautiful place with stunning scenery. The winters provide us with good snowfall to ski from early Dec through to the end of April. We have plenty of high altitude skiing on our doorstep ensuring us of consistent snow throughout the season. The valley is well known for having late snow so is a great choice for April skiing if you fancy an end of season trip.
Summer can see temperatures in the late 20's. There is a music festival and the resort is a great place to visit for walking, mountainbiking, climbing, rafting , swimming in lakes and outdoor pools or just visiting beautiful restaurants and relaxing.
